Consistently good fish and chips, the British way. Have been a frequent customer for nearly a year now, and they’ve never missed a beat with the quality of the food. Being Australian, the first time I saw the chips I was surprised at how they looked different to the usual hot chips you get from a fish and chip shop, but it is because they are cooked fresh on the spot from the potatoes, not frozen. I enjoyed the taste... View all feedback.
Tried this place for the first time today. It was spot on! So many places don't quite hit the mark when it comes to authentic fish chips but this made me so happy! Really good value. Huge piece of cod. Perfect chips. Curry sce mushy peas were fab. The girl that served us was genuinely friendly. Offered us water for the dog. Nothing was too much effort for her. Thanks guys. Perfect food, service value.
I enjoyed the taste straight away, however, and now I prefer my chips to be like this, not the more crunchy frozen version that nearly all fish and chip shops use. The cod is always fresh tasting and chunky and white, and the batter is tasty...in fact everything I’ve bought from there tastes good. I would certainly recommend you give them a go.
Good Chips, nice to see pickled eggs and onions on the counter, Pork sausage in batter hard to beat. Nice selection of English treats and drinks. Only suggestion I would make is, large gherkins for sale, plus slap a Salt and Vinegar shaker on the front counter for that proper administration of condiments! Its a bit like your hair style, only you know how you have it! Hope to see you bigger and better next time we are down your way. Cheers!
We have always enjoyed this place as finding good fish n chips is hard. the fish batter is always crisp and the chips are hand cut and are the old school type with lots of different sizes and those little crisp bits! I’ve never been a great fan of importing fish due to the carbon footprint but allow myself to forget from time to time as it is really good. But tonight’s meal was disappointing. The chips were bad. There is no other way to put it. The kids were disappointed. At least I now know why. It’s due to the drought. I just think you should stop serving them until they are back to normal. I feel it’s false advertising especially when that’s one of the reasons we come. I do appreciate the owners explanation though but feel very let down.
I will definitely be back. Was there yesterday and The food was genuinely spot on. A few of those lovely crunchy chips dotted around with some softer chips mixed in....My mouth is watering while I write this. We had cod...perfect Sausage in batter...just like home Curry sauce and mushy peas....spot on Service was great, staff were friendly and food came out fast. I’m not comfortable reading the 1star reviews. This is not mainstream food and very niche. Give these guys a chance to get the order right. I’ve been to a few British restaurants (curry and fish and chips) and it can take a little while to get served when busy. Keep the great work up and good luck with the business!
