The atmosphere was very nice. The presentation of the dishes was also beautiful. The Gotofu was the most delicious. The steamed fish in Chawan-mushi was a bit fishy. Other dishes were decently tasty, but the portion sizes were very small and the prices were too high. The apple dessert was extremely bitter and unpleasant. Nestled in a charmingly authentic Japanese setting, Anekawa, with its subdued lighting and limited seating, shines as the pinnacle of contemporary Japanese cuisine on the Gold Coast. Echoing the spirit of high-end Kaiseki in its offerings, this ryori delivers a modern interpretation with its share plate concept. Anekawa runs a predominantly seafood-centric menu, studded with the obligatory Wagyu beef and vegetarian dishes, (which are also treated with the same care and thoughtfulness . Standout items were the Char-grilled fish head (unctuously interactive! and claypot rice with whole prawns (addictively crisp and savoury morsels Each dish showcased the season 's freshest ingredients, masterfully prepared with a deep reverence for Japanese culinary technique. The beverage side of proceedings isn 't forgotten, with a standout cocktail menu, biodynamic/organic wine selection and well thought out sake, beer or whisky choices. The service was impeccable, marked by a thoughtful attention to detail that ensured a seamless dining rhythm, with staff who were as informative as they were attentive. This gem of fine dining, discreetly tucked away from the limelight, earns a flawless score of 10 out of 10 for an unparalleled gastronomic journey I 'll definitely be taking again.
Such a lovely calm atmosphere Amazing staff who went into so much detail explaining all ingredients and Drinks that went with dishes Non alchaholic and Alchahol drinks some may say on the expensive side yet the value of this intamate experience was such a joy .As we chose the chefs choice we were given signature dishes that melted in your Mouth : Organic everything at its best with the chef delivering a meal to our table If I coukd suggest anything it would be to have lovely Japanese music playing in the background Thank you for such a lovely experience x Dietary restrictions: The staff were so in line with asking about allergies before our meal was ordered ! We were lucky enough to secure a booking at Anekawa after many attempts. Went on a Friday night at 7pm, just the two of us. We've dined at many lovely restaurants, and after reading reviews were excited to visit Anekawa. We certainly were not disappointed!! Hard to find the door behind the curtains, but very intimate atmosphere. The service was wonderful from start to finish. Delicious wines and Sake, but the food. Amazing doesn't even feel a good enough word. Such deliberate effort in presentation, complimenting tastes, flavour balance, just brilliant. We sat at the bench, so we watched our appellation oysters shucked in front of us and presented fresh. Sashimi, cut fresh. I can't describe every meal, but whilst I normally find something I might like differently, nothing in any of my dishes would I change. Do yourself a flavour, save some dollars and treat yourself! Thanks team for a wonderful dining experience!
