Farewell to Alyssa and Michael. Thanks for looking after us so well. Welcome to Fiona See you in the new year
Dropped in here on my way home to Clifton last Sunday morning. Two teen lads holidaying from Caboolture doing the serving, being carefully overseen by the owner. Ordered a hamburger, $8.50, not too bad a price considering what some places charge. Delivered to me at...my outside table within 10 minutes or so. Big, big burger!! Makes certain burger chains look pale in comparison, maybe 2 times the size at least!! Home made patty, plenty of salad and cheese (without the surcharge). Nice touch. I'll be back.
The service at this restaurant is very friendly and they provide generous portion sizes.
We were heading to the Darling Downs Zoo at Pilton and stopped at Nobby to check out a local market at the hall but we were too late as it closed at 12pm. Decided to look for a place for a coffee or tea...and discovered the general store. They had a sit down area and tables on the footpath. We ordered some burgers which were delicious. The patty was clearly homemade and it was a generous serve. They even had gluten free bread and made a burger for me. The hot chips were hot crisp and delicious. They served Merlo coffee and tea made with leaves. It was well beyond our expectations on a Saturday afternoon and on a par with anything in the city. The nearby Rudd pub was pumping with about 30 bikes outside, there was an art gallery open and a craft store open. The town pays homage to Sister Kenny with a memorial and small museum but it wasn't open. This tiny little country town was punching above it's weight and really deserves a stop if you are in the neighbourhood.
