We’ve been regulars at De Beemden aan de Nete for years, often coming with family and kids. The location is gorgeous and the atmosphere is lovely. The large pla... read more We’ve been regulars at De Beemden aan de Nete for years, often coming with family and kids. The location is gorgeous and the atmosphere is lovely. The large playground is a big plus, the kids have a great time and you can easily keep an eye on them from the terrace. The food is good, but not exceptional. Unfortunately, this past summer the service has been consistently disappointing. On several visits we experienced one or more of the following: • Waiting 30 minutes just to order drinks • Waiting even longer to order food • Receiving the wrong drinks when they finally arrived • Waiting up to 1 hour and 15 minutes for our meals, even after asking about them multiple times The waiting staff is made up mostly of friendly student workers, but they often seem lost, chaotic, and overwhelmed. It’s also clear that the kitchen can’t keep up, even with less than one-third of the terrace filled, the delays are extreme. It’s a shame, because this could easily be one of the best spots in the area. We hope the staffing and organisation improve, because the location and concept deserve better execution.
