The food and service at this restaurant were excellent. I ordered the lunch shrimp (6 compared to 12 for dinner) grilled over a bed of rice, with sides of fries, corn on the cob, and hushpuppies. Everything was delicious. The shrimp were perfectly grilled and moist, not overly salty. The corn was fresh and juicy, and the fries were perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. What Asa Roob doesn't like about Pofolks:
I was very disappointed! eating was at best mediocre. pofolks used to be one of my favourites in birmingham. they all closed years ago. the server we had was very sweet and attentive. the main room was extremely cold! I used to really enjoy Po Folks, but now the food is more like canned food. It's not the authentic Southern cuisine it used to be. The restaurant itself is old and in poor condition, with cobwebs and dust all around. The ceiling tiles are dirty and may have mold. The management needs to prioritize cleanliness.
The food and service at this restaurant were excellent. I chose the lunch shrimp dish, which consists of 6 shrimp grilled over rice, served with fries, corn on the cob, and hushpuppies. Everything was delicious. The shrimp were tender and moist, not too salty. The corn was plump, and the steak fries were cooked perfectly - crispy outside and fluffy inside. Nothing was overly seasoned. I will definitely return to try other dishes on the menu.
My sister recently visited and suggested we dine at this restaurant. We ordered the "2 meat" lunch which included chicken and chicken livers. The food was delicious and there was a generous portion size. I chose to pay an extra dollar for a breast. The customer service was excellent, which is always appreciated. I wouldn't have considered eating here otherwise, but the affordable price and hearty lunch portions made it a great choice.
I was very disappointed! The food was mediocre at best. PoFolks used to be one of my favorite places to eat in Birmingham. They all closed years ago ??. The server we had was very sweet and attentive. The main dining room was extremely cold!!! Fortunately, we were in a back dining room which was fairly comfortable. A couple came in when we were finishing our meal and were asking for a warmer place to sit but were not allowed to come in there. They were told that dining
For the money and the hospitality this restaurant is just a feel good comfortable place where smiles and service are included with every meal. The Fried Green Tomatoes are the most unpretentious with just the perfect amount of wonderfully seasoned breading that are among the best I've ever tasted! The dipping sauce is a perfect complement to these incredible little circles of wonder! Full stop! The myriad of dishes are just what you would expect in comfort food. The
