We visited here for dinner and were very impressed. Our waiter, Jean Michel was so helpful with wine recommendations to match our meal. We enjoyed a delicious meal in what felt like such a traditional French restaurant. The fondue is the best we have ever...experienced! View all feedback.
What Lucie Lemaire doesn't like about La Cave du Fromager:
Having been our favourite restaurant for the last five years or so that we having been coming to Nice, this year was slightly disappointing. Menu is shorter. The burrata on spinach came up fridge cold. The gnocchi was very nice but rather sry. On the...other hand the main course cheese selection was very good. View all feedback.
The food was wonderful - the tartiflette was so delicious and the lemon tart was sublime! The staff were really friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. We would definitely go again if we go back to Nice!
We ate in a cellar at the expense, the meal was very good (shower of cold cutlery in the entrance and melted in the county)Prices were quite reasonable. I want to emphasize the quality of the service, the staff welcomed us and was very smiling. We'll go back with pleasure.
During our 10 days stay in Nice, we visited the Bistro du Fromager (la cave du fromager) twice. The first night we ordered the cheese platter as a starter (to share), the fondue of Morbier and Comté as main dish, and another cheese platter to finish. There's never too much cheese... :-D The wine was good too, recommended by the enthusiastic waiter. Because we had a great experience, we decided to return the day after (our last night in Nice). We then ordered the tagliatelle which is cooked in a giant parmesan cheese- very impressive to see them toss the tagliatelle in the giant cheese. :-) A spectacle for the eyes, as well as for your taste buds. We were served excellent wine. We ordered the cheese fondue, and finished with a custom- made cheese platter. We'll definitely return.
We've fallen on it by chance, we've had a great night. a card that changes every day, dishes that make it salty, great cheese and good wine to water it all. not to mention a service and a very pleasant owner. What more?
Hidden away down the winding streets of Nice is La Cave Fromager (la bistro fromager). From the facade you could easily walk by thinking it is a small deli. But inside and down the steps you enter a cheese lovers paradise! Set underground in a stone cellar the temperature is cool, a relief from the warm streets above. The menu is changed daily and has a range of perfect starters, mains and desserts. The Charcuterie board was a perfect starter, served with delicious fresh bread. For main you must try the cheese fondu it is heavenly. The pig cheek was full of flavour and the meat was very tender. If you love cheese you must visit!!! The staff are fantastic and offer you wine based on your meal order and your taste. A fantastic restaurant, brilliant staff and a very romantic setting.
