We had a good meal at Keisuke Matsushima. We had their take on the Omakase which was pleasant overall. Some dishes were outstanding and others were good but didn’t leave a lasting memory. View all feedback.
What Daniel Riviere doesn't like about Keisuke Matsushima:
We did some research before we selected a restaurant. We have high expectations for this Michelin 1-star restaurant (but not sure whether it has lost the star this year as we cannot find the Michelin Prize). However, the overall tasting experience does not value 150€ (60€ wine drink) per person. View all feedback.
A safe fine dining experience for anniversary / celebratory meals. We opted for the EUR 23 two course lunch to experience fine dining.Service was attentive - the manager offered to keep my hat. The younger waiters tried hard and are overseen by an experienced manager. The lunch menu served rather standard affairs, the food we had was completely French, as what the Michelin inspectors wrote. There is nothing in reminiscent of Japanese cuisine except with a hint of fish spice in the prawn appetizer which can be considered "Asian"...or Thai. The sugar coated plum tomato starter was a delightful surprise - the sour tomato juice and sweet coating created an interesting flavour that is not strange at all. In northern China the sugar coated apple is a traditional sweet so this is a nice twist. The mains were on the salty side. For the main I ordered octopus with tomato sauce. It is a strong flavoured dish with the addition of olives which is very salty itself. It looks and tastes like an Italian dish - not surprised by the strong Italian influence here, afterall Nice shares the same sea coast as the Italians. The other main, lamb with aubergine was also very salty in my view. Dessert we ordered a mango passionfruit flan which is nice but nothing special.Overall execution, presentation and taste is on the safe side but not a stunning wow for a Michelin recommended restaurant, prehaps the expectation was set a bit high and it will be different for dinner service.Interior is a mixture of simplistic modern Japanese with a funky, modern interpretation of Da Vinci's Last Supper. On a weekday lunch the restaurant was full with a mixture of Asian tourists and French. It is very close to the beach.A safe choice for special occasions.
Super experience, that this restaurant whose reputation is truly justified, the reception and service are perfect, the cuisine overflows with finesse, and taste... good taste!fresh products, and moment of family sharing that was most enjoyable, everything is really good, from the entrance to dessert, the kind of place where we would like to taste the whole card.Bravo
General: 4,170€ for a 8-step menu, a little too expensive for us who are used to this type of betting restaurant. But the ingredients remain of very good quality. Ambiance: 4 Small and quiet atmosphere restaurant, but a little cold, not welcoming at first. Kitchen : 4 Can we take some à la carte dishes? The menu was good, with a good quantity, however it is true that we expected a little better. The mouths were beautiful, and announcing the color of the evening. The oyster, impeccable, and the second entrance niquel! From the third entrance it was a little simpler. (A shrimp, the fish we found without too much interest We still enjoyed the wagyu A3 that was not too fat. The pre dessert super fresh, but the dessert we had not loved too much (the blown . Service: 4 The waitress and the chef are nice but a little cold and fast. We had a little chat with the chief, which was still appreciable.
Chief Matsushima treats me every time. A perfect restaurant for any occasion. The calf ris of the moment are a delight.
As always, the most pleasant culinary journey, very Provencal for this time. Everything was impeccablely delicate and in agreement. I can't wait to come back.
