During our brief visit to the city, we were looking for a cozy, local spot, and this place was just right. After an unpleasant first experience where after a long wait of 1-1/2 hours for a simple cheeseburger that arrived totally raw, at the urgency of the manager, we decided to give it another try with friends. One friend got the burger and again, it was raw. The server (with hat on) was clueless and rarely seen. Wine and beer refills were hard to obtain. As advertised, the facility was built in 1770. As such, everything is of that time period, but in good condition. The issues we had were, the noise from partying rang out loudly until about 2:00 a.m., ridiculously loudly! The room is primarily set up for a single individual. Very difficult to get in and out of bed for a second person.Rooms: Very small, cozy; however, terrible acoustics, not handicap friendly. Don't stay here if you are in need of rest.Walkability: Very quaint downtown area.
Overpriced, undervalued! Food and drinks were atrocious. Friends and I literally had a great time laughing at the embarrassing quality of it all. Will literally lol every time I drive by.
I've been to the Temperance House twice recently and both times my meals were excellent. Our table ordered different entrees and everyone was very pleased. Mine was the crab cake and I enjoyed it very much. Also, liked the historic atmosphere. We will definitely be back!
Went on Wednesday, and it was Open Mic night. Quite a few talented players singers.
