First time trying this place and it was outstanding! I asked the owner what I should have for dinner, being a newbie he recommended the chicken kabob platter. I'm so stuffed after eating this meal but everything was so delicious! I watched them cook everything fresh . The platter was served with rice, veggies, hummus and a salad. You could absolutely tell everything was fresh, will be back again to try something more... View all feedback.

We were looking for a casual spot to have lunch in Newtown and noticed King of Falafel and their slew of great Yelp reviews. I've never been to Newtown, so I wasn't sure of what to expect from a falafel joint located in an Amish Market, but yeah, the quality of the food was very good! We got a grilled chicken platter and a vegetarian falafel platter and both were delicious. My only gripe was that there wasn't very much meat on the chicken plate. For $12 bucks there were only 5 small pieces of chicken amid the sea of salad, hummus and pita. But, what was there was definitely memorable. I should also note, for families coming with small kids, there is only 1 high chair for the entire food court dining area. We got lucky and snagged it right away but I can see how this could be an issue on busy days. I would definitely recommend bringing a stroller with a tray just in case.
Had a piece of their chocolate baklava which was ok, far from the best baklava we've had but not the worst. The advertised/displayed price for the small bite sized piece was $1.75 which was a bit high considering the size of the piece, but it's a farmer's market so wasn't expecting great prices in there to begin with. However later when I got home looked at the receipt and we were also charged a service charge of .69 which amounts to a 40% service charge! My bad for not looking at the receipt at the time of purchase to question it then, but it also would've been great if the service charge had been disclosed clearly/mentioned by staff prior to ordering /or paying. No one likes surprises on their bill, this one just cost King of Falafel any of our future business.
I just finished wolfing down a Falafel Pita, and want to try to capture the essence of this memorable experience. I did clean my hands before touching the keyboard. King of Falafel in the Newtown Farmers' Market is very close to the main entrance, requiring a right turn past the pretzel stand, and then it is right in front of you. It offers all manner of Middle Eastern/Greek delicacies from Fresh Feta and Olives to Stuffed Grape Leaves and Baklava. It is all very good. Today, I wanted a Falafel Pita. I quickly brought it back to my office to devour, as the dining area was crowded with the lunchers. As I unwrapped the aluminum foil the aroma of hot chickpeas and tachina wafted over me. My salivaries reacted immediately, and I had to swallow hard to regain control. The first bite penetrated the warm pita, sliced through a falafel ball, and diced the lettuce easily. The flavor of fresh ground chickpeas dominated the oral sensations, but the tachina sauce quickly caught up with its own sesame subtleties. The mix was fresh and insisted I pay attention. The falafel was well fried (not over done) with little oily taste and a hint of gentle sweetness, while the tachina took it all in a different, slightly sour direction. It was great! It took me back to the Souk in Jerusalem where I had first tried the varieties of things that could be stuffed onto a pita and rolled up as a twenty something student at Tel Aviv University. My reverie ended, but as I went to toss away the recyclable remains, I noticed something else in the bag. It was a single piece of Baklava thrown in as a final sweet ending by the owners. Nice surprise! My lips are still sticky. The philo dough, grounds nuts, and honey were a wonderful end to an enjoyable lunch break and time travel experience. I will make new travel reservations soon as the Newtown Farmers' Market is only open 3 days a week. All aboard!
Great food and great people. I use them every year to cater our work party and eat there pretty frequently. The food is so authentic and fresh!
Food that is fit for a King and his Queen! Definitely the place to be if you 're in the mood for some Authentic Middle Eastern/Mediterranean food! It 's Absolutely devine you 'll want to come back for more! I highly recommend the Falafel (hence the name of the restaurant King of Falafel , hummus, Pickled Eggplant, Mixed Grill Beef Chicken platter- Delicious, and the Gyros (my kids devoured it and they are picky eaters . Finish off with some Baklava and your palate will be craving back for some more! The service is excellent and the staff is very friendly and attentive. You just have to try it for yourself.
