Visited one Sunday morning for coffee and cake. Nice little cafe in back streets of NEWTON. Coffee was nice and large range of cakes made on the premises. Was interesting to see the cakes being made as there was a large viewing window behind the counter. A latin American influenced patissere serving breakfast lunch and sweets. There is also an outdoor eating area which would be a nice on a sunny day. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Elbio:
The restaurants are no longer open at this location. The bakery is still operating, but the connected restaurants have shut down. This used to be a great restaurant, but sadly it has closed its doors. View all feedback.
Go for a meal but stay for the cake! I love Elbios.
Perfect suburban spot for brunch, lunch or a sweet treat or two! The brunch menu is a standout out for me with all your favourite dishes.
I've been to Elbio before on a few occasions and service has been good, fast and the food good as well, this visit was out of the ordinary and not in a good
A beautiful, fresh range of desserts - shame about the coffee though, average. Have had lunch here in the past also and quite enjoyed it. Great setting and friendly staff. If you're ever in the area I'd recommend to stop past.
I'd heard so much about this place and maybe I just turned up on a bad day but the service was unfriendly and whoever serves up a main before soup??!!The young women serving seemed to be half asleep and really not with it at all. On suggesting to the waitress that perhaps we should both get our soup before my frittata which had just appeared, she looked most surprised and reluctantly took it away!I had rung the day before to check there were gluten free items on the menu and had been assured there were options by a friendly person, but all of the staff in there today were quite unsure when I asked which things were gluten free and definitely didn't go out of their way to oblige! I don't expect a bakery to have many gluten free options but it is nice to be treated a bit more respectfully and with a little more enthusiasm! The gluten free cake was almost inedible, dry and tasteless. It was supposedly a friand but was a poor excuse for a friand that's for sure. Gluten free friands are usually moist and delicious! I was also very surprised to be told the macarons were NOT gluten free - friands and macarons are the staple gluten free deserts for those of us that can't eat gluten! The soup and frittata were fine for the price. It is really mostly the unenthusiastic, unfriendly service that I found most off putting.Perhaps I need to go another day and hope the staff are feeling a little more interested in their jobs - is Sunday perhaps a bad day?
