Went on German Buffet night. All the ethnic tasty foods I grew up with. Verenicke, twebach, homemade apple butter, ham, ham gravy, sauerkraut, German farmer sausage and borscht. Cherry moos, bread pudding and another selection I didn't recognize. Lotsof these are German Russian recipes. Wonderful. If you're in the Newton area on a Friday night, be sure and try it!
While we do not live in Newton, we 've been to the Breadbasket a couple of times in the past years, and it 's been enjoyable, enough so to continue to be a restaurant of choice when we are in Newton. I don 't know though if I 'll be that eager to returnthe next time I 'm in town. It was okay but it just seemed a little bit more run down this time around, and not up to par withprevious visits. Maybe we just hit them at a bad time. Plus it seemed like the guy at the register taking orders must 've had abad morning (we were there for lunch), because while not unpleasant, he just didn 't seem like he was wanting to deal withanymore people that day, kind of short with is answers or patience. This has usually been one of my husband 's faves, so we 'llprobably give it another try some day.
First time here. I was very impressed with the Sunday buffet! Food was excellent, exceeded my expectations! Would definitely like to return sometime for the German buffet on Friday or Saturday evening.
On 7/11/22, I enjoyed a petite Reuben sandwich and a cup of vegetable soup, along with samples of their white bread and walnut raisin bread. Everything was absolutely delicious. Back in 2021, I tried their Philly cheesesteak sandwich, and it’s by far the best I’ve ever had in Kansas. The hoagie bun is freshly baked and toasted to the perfect crispness. It’s piled high with thinly sliced, tender, and juicy beef steak, topped with a generous layer of sweet caramelized onions and real Swiss cheese slices. I could only finish half the sandwich and most of the fries because it was so satisfying. Don’t forget to try the pecan pie. Bon appétit!
