Last night we dined at Andre’s new restaurant with our Extreme Foodie daughter and son-in-law (they work for Mario Batali), and it was superb. They don’t yet have the bar going so you have to bring your own, but I expect that will change. The food was delicious. My fried branzino was outstanding, and my husband says the seared foie gras was the best he's ever had, and he has it every chance he gets. The service was a... View all feedback.
What Jackie Kirkman doesn't like about Andre's Wine Boutique:
We went for St Patty's Day celebration,we thought- no corned beef and cabbage -Corned duck instead which was tasty but extremely too salty. Mushroom barley soup, salad and dessert were very good. Salmon was raw in the middle. Wait staff were wonderful- friendly and couldn't do enough. My fried branzino was outstanding, and my husband says the seared foie gras was the best he's ever had, and he has it every chance he gets. The service was a little slow, but that’s to be expected when a restaurant is new. There was quite a crowd tonight, and that may have impacted (I hate that word) the service. That said, the servers were gracious and attentive. All in all, it was a perfect evening with wonderful food. These critics gives it an A+.
The service wasn't the perfection I expected. I guess here in northwest Jersey we can't expect it for some reason, but that really did disappoint me and affected my dining experience. The tables are very small so when the waiter didn't bother checking if our plates needed clearing, I was frustrated, ESPECIALLY when the next course arrived PRIOR to the plates being cleared! To me that's to be expected at Applebees, but not here. That was my other issue. TOOOOO SMALLL. I felt confined. The food was interesting, cooked to perfection and served piping hot--all very important and done well. BUT, the atmosphere and crappy service dropped my review to 4 stars. Next time I want to spend that much on dinner, I'll venture further from home where service is something restaurants take pride in. Sigh... I'm so disappointed. I really wanted to love this place. Oh well.
