What 100placesiwanted2see doesn't like about The Blue Print Pizza Newry:
We were very disappointed with our pizza tonight! £27 is not acceptable for below average pizzas! The pizzas were luke warm as were the chips, which were a very small portion also! Sadly over priced and under delivered! View all feedback.
A few years ago, I visited the Blues Print restaurant and really enjoyed my meal. Recently, I noticed that there was a line of people waiting outside the restaurant. After observing this a few times, I think I understand why. The strategy of making customers wait for a table outside is harsh but clever. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. I ordered the fried shrimp with chorizo as a starter, a simple dish that is hard to mess up. However, for over £8, I received only four small shrimp and a few pieces of chorizo. I would value this dish at £3.40. The pizza Siciliana, which the menu boasted as their signature dish, was a letdown. The dough was too thick, not baked enough, and seemed like a lazy job. I found a £1.50 frozen pizza from Lidl to taste better. As for the service, there was none.
I stopped by for a late lunch and was thoroughly impressed. The prawn starter was fantastic, followed by the delicious BP special pizza. The ingredients were fresh, the service was friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere was lovely. The pizza was crispy, had an authentic Italian flavor, and was loaded with delicious, fresh toppings. This restaurant is definitely my top choice for dining in Newry.
We decided to dine at this restaurant again because in the past it had been well-run and served good food. However, our experience tonight was a complete nightmare. It started off when a friendly blonde waitress mistakenly offered us two pizza meals meant for another table. After that confusion, we ordered a starter and a meatball pizza along with the meatball dish. The starter took 30 minutes to arrive, and when our food finally came, we were served two meatball pizzas instead of what we had actually ordered. I expressed my disappointment and was told that it would take more time to prepare the correct meal. Despite this, no effort was made to keep my partner's dish warm or to offer us fresh meals. When I mentioned my disappointment and requested some form of compensation, the manageress came over and challenged me about why I was asking for a free meal. She seemed annoyed that I had complained and pointed out the obvious, that I was upset. I have never experienced such poorly managed service in my life. My partner and I left without finishing our meal or the wine we had ordered. The manageress disappeared, leaving a cheeky waitress who had forgotten our menu order to charge us over 60 pounds. The manager then exited through the back door without attempting to address the situation at the till. This restaurant is poorly managed, and I strongly advise avoiding it in case you end up in a similar unfortunate situation.
I have lived and dined in Newry since 2006. Living by the mantra of toy only live once l dine out on an average of twice a week. I can honestly say Blue Print has never failed to disappoint. The choice and quality of food is excellent. While aimed at families it cleverly retains a restaurant quality. Pizza prices are extremely competitive. Believe me when l say you will look forward to a return visit
