This restaurant is fantastic for brunch! The brunch special offers delicious food choices at a great value. The crepes are especially amazing. The raspberry shortbread included was a bit dry and lacked flavor, but considering it was an extra in the brunch, it's hard to complain. The atmosphere is great and it's a perfect place to grab a meal before or after visiting the SOWA market. View all feedback.
What Auguste Andre doesn't like about Gas Lamp Grille:
Stopped in for lunch with my husband and son. It was pretty busy so we weren't too upset with the long wait for service. She was doing the best she could, they seemed perhaps short-staffed. That being said the order was wrong and she tried to make it right but it was still wrong. Not that big of a deal but the food was really terrible. I had the lobster tacos, $32, and almost inedible. Virtually no lobster, just a gl... View all feedback.
The service was just fine, but the food was delicious. It is definitely important what you order here because many other reviews complain about mediocre food. I have her...
This review is a little hard because the location was nice, the waitress was nice, but the food was just okay over the board. Me and my two friends...
Lunch. You have a decent beer selection and could get a flight. Typical bar food that was pretty good. Decent portion sizes....
We had lunch with our granddaughter in the Gas Lamp Grill. As with any place in Newport this week there was a waiting time to get a table. The hostess took my phone number and said the wait would be 20-30 minutes. After 30 minutes we went back and I told the hostess we were waiting. She said she'd just call me. I'm not so sure. After a few minutes we sat in the bar area. Our server was also the bar call. The bar was filled with cartridges so that she was serving tables more than an inappropriate expectation. She took our orders and brought our drinks, but then a young man delivered our food. The best of our lunch was the orange cinnamon infused Bourbon Manhattan and the fried pickles. The chicken wings were fine. My wife ordered the fish sandwich and it was really useless. It was usually so crispy that you could hardly bite it. She ordered a side salad and instead brought Chowder. They finally brought the salad. I ordered the turkeyburger who was ok, and a side chili that was dark and thick, unlike any chili I've ever had. My granddaughter asked for a second glass of lemonade and from that. when the server brought it, we were ready to leave. I asked about the check, but the bartender/server was obviously overwhelmed, so I went to the bar to get the check and pay the bill. We've been coming to Newport for many years, but we never had dinner at the GLG. Needless to say, we will never get back to the place.
Delicious, inexpensive food and drinks! I had the fillet with potatoes. The Margarita was the best I ever tasted..
