Otter - Newport
Otter
Description
The Otter restaurant offers a mix of delightful dining experiences, with many patrons praising its delicious meals, attentive service, and spacious atmosphere. Favorites like the lasagna and Sunday carvery garner rave reviews, while family-friendly events, such as “Breakfast with Santa,” add charm to the experience. However, concerns arise regarding menu accuracy and cleanliness, as some popular items were reportedly unavailable, potentially hinting at pre-packaged offerings. Additionally, parking issues plagued certain guests, leading to frustration over penalties. Overall, while the food shines, improvements in communication and upkeep could elevate The Otter to new heights.

Similar to the Bumblebee restaurant, they did not have the mega mixed grill and some other items were unavailable. It seems like this restaurant needs to update their menu to accurately reflect what they actually have available. It is puzzling why they could not provide the mega mixed grill when it is essentially just extra portions. This raises concerns about whether the food is pre-packaged and frozen. The cleanliness of the restaurant also needs improvement, similar to the Bumblebee.
Lovely place to visit having a business meeting. Food excellent and service to match. Will be using this venue again going forward.
Nice dinner Our waitress alaney was very helpful and pleasant My son has steak and chips and I had a. Sunday lunch which was lovely
Good meeting place. Parking arrangements are good, despite the challenge of a drive thru fast food restaurant close by! The menu isn't extensive, but there was enough to choose from. Only comment would be to not put barbecue sauce on quite so many dishes!
I visited the pub with a group of friends and when my partner collected me he parked outside for a few moments while I was getting ready to leave and then got a parking ticket for £60 from the company that The Otter employ to oversee the car park, Parking Eye. We appealed stating that we were inside and provided a receipt, the appeal was turned down as apparently there are signs everywhere, not really visible in the dark at the front of the building and secondly, my partner never entered the building so would have no idea about entering his registration. Firstly, why do the otter staff not advise you about having to enter your registration into the machines at the bar and secondly, why is there not a 10 min grace period to allow people to park while they are picking people up from the restaurant. Or are The Otter taking a kickback from the tickets Will never use the place again after this as spoils the whole experience.
