I've been living in Nova Scotia for the past 8 years and whenever I'm back home in Newmarket I always make a stop at Newmarket Plaza Fish and Chips. I've been going here since the mid 1990s and it has not changed one bit since then! The food is delicious and the decor is retro, better than some fish and chips that I've had in Atlantic Canada! We were very disappointed in our visit. We had take out of halibut and chips.Compared to other fish and chip places in York region the portions were small and tasted chewy and tired. The chip portion was comparable in size but again a bit cool and not fresh tasting. I absolutely love getting takeout from this restaurant - the halibut has a delicious light and tasty batter, and the chips are the real deal. The cod is also superb, with nice generous portions. Highly recommend!

The Restaurant is very basic, old tables and chairs, but the food more than makes up for it. They have the Best Halibut and Chips!!!

You won't find a better fish and chip restaurant in Newmarket. The food is quickly prepared and delicious. They offer a variety of fish options and fresh cut fries. If you're looking for something different, try the onion rings - all made with love and care.

Great Fish chips! Fish was cook perfectly, fries were excellent. Would highly recommend, Best Fish and Chips out there! Apple Rings were excellent! Other foods like Chicken Finger, mushrooms, Shrimps were all amazing.

Our experience at this restaurant was quite disappointing. We ordered the halibut and chips for takeout, but found the portions to be smaller than expected and the fish to be chewy and not very fresh. The chips were also not as hot and fresh as we had hoped. We visited on a Saturday evening, thinking it would be a good time for fresh, delicious food, but unfortunately we were not impressed. Overall, we probably won't be returning as there are better dining choices in the area.
