Definitely a higher end restaurant in the are, from the vibe to the food it is a higher class feel. For 5 of us the bill was well over 300$ with tip. But we did order some apps drinks and some food so it really leveled out. What I highly recommend is the past with meatballs and burrata. I can't remember the name of it lol. The burrata was fresh and the meatballs was fantastic beef and prosciutto mix. Recommend this p... View all feedback.
What Theano 12 doesn't like about 235 S Cayuga St Green St Garage:
This is definitely not the Cafe DeWitt of old. Since reopening under new ownership, the menu is super scaled back and food is very 'meh '. You really shouldn 't charge $15 for the tiniest sandwich imaginable, and not even bother to put so much as a handful of greens on the side. Also, we were confused by the slow service, since we were literally the only people ordering at the time. I am rooting for this place to do... View all feedback.
We started out at the bar, the bartender was great. Then on to our table. Our waiter was apparently new. Need I say more. We ordered more drinks and a bottle of wine. We ordered appetizers, good. Our biggest upset was that our salads were brought to the table with our meal. So we asked to eat them first. Well of course when the meals were re delivered they were cold. Very disappointing. The food was good, but would have been better if it was hot.
Pizza with butternut squash: needs less cheese. Takes over all the flavor. Makes it quite bland. Buratta: more Buratta please. So small. Pretty tasty! Out of buffalo cauliflower but that's usually so good. Mac and cheese: always great. Chicken: Good flavors!
Truthfully, I had high expectations for this place- the ambience is absolutely gorgeous, and it would seem absolutely perfect for a date night, or to celebrate a special occasion. However, most of the dishes I tried missed the mark for me: Salmon: I wasn't a fan of the overly sweet sauce, which completed overwhelmed the natural, subtle flavors of the salmon and assortment of a rice trio. The only saving grace of the dish was the grilled purple onions, but this dish was definitely disappointing in both the execution and taste, and I don't think many people would be a fan of eating a sweet-tasting dinner. Smoked tomato bisque: heavy emphasis on the SMOKED, because my soup tasted very burnt and swamped the sweet fragrances of tomatoes. I really had higher expectations for the dishes here, and this soup definitely disappointed me. Filet mignon: tried a bit of my friend's dish, and this is cooked and seasoned just perfectly, especially if you get it in medium. It's incredible how the color and texture was consistent throughout the entire steak, and would highly recommend this! The potatoes and asparagus paired with this steak were overseasoned and a bit lacking, but I didn't mind this as much since the filet mignon was definitely the star of the show. Season cheesecake chocolate stout torte: big fan of the desserts, and I can definitely understand the hype about them. The season cheesecake was an apple crumble the night I visited, and I loved how you could taste the natural sweetness and fragrances of the apples used. They also didn't go too heavy on the caramel sauce or cream topping, which I appreciated! As for the chocolate stout torte, I loved how the dark chocolate used wasn't too sweet and how the cake was served chilled, which made it a lot more refreshing and light compared to most other chocolate desserts. Overall, a rather disappointing experience but there's definitely a bit of room for improvement, especially when it comes to the execution of the food and service. If you're looking for ambience and a nicer bar experience in Ithaca, definitely check them out, but there are definitely better (and less expensive) fine dining options available in the Commons.
Good food, great drinks and a lovely atmosphere. Can be a bit on the pricey side but overall it's a great dining experience
My wife and I got married in September 2021. We had a lot of guests traveling in for the Saturday wedding so we held our 'Welcome Night ' at Coltivare the Friday night before. I cannot tell you what a PHENOMENAL NIGHT our guest had. It was truly a night to remember. Working with Jason was extremely pleasant and satisfying. He was very accommodating to us. He offered us a great food/ beverage package, offered ideas of seating arrangement, gave us access to the music playlist of the restaurant, and let us decorate. Jason and his staff were extremely helpful and really made the night what it was. The food and service was great! We cannot thank them enough. Jason thanks for being the man and awesome to work with. When we look back at our magical wedding weekend we always start off by remembering the beautiful welcome night we had at Coltivare. We cannot wait to visit.
