We braved the inclement weather on a cold and rainy evening. We were rewarded with awesome cocktails, friendly, attentive service and we practically had the place to ourselves! There is an extensive cocktail and wine list as well as bar snacks and a full menu. There's even coffee and cake! We've been here a few times now and it's consistently good. View all feedback.

We popped in here around 5pm on a Friday, just for a happy hour drink or two and some bar snacks. We sat at a very comfortable lounge area at the side with a fantastic uninterrupted view of the harbour. A great way to while away an hour or so. Not sure about the views from the proper dining area. The staff were very friendly and efficient. We started with an antipasto platter which wasn't anything particularly interesting, but then had the salt and pepper calamari from the bar snacks menu. Unlike most restaurants who do this dish, Silo really packed some punch into the salt and pepper so it had great flavour and was accompanied by a delicious nam jim dippig sauce. Would definitely go back at least for that and the view!
The location can hardly be beaten on the Boardwalk at Newscastle. Despite it being a really windy day, we sat comfortably inside and were waited on hand and foot with every kindness without intrusion. Sharing some bread with dukkah as a starter; my dining companion had the Linguini with prawns and I had the seafood risotto (one of the day's specials). I could not fault my meal, both in portion and abundance of seafood and the risotto was properly done. I suspect that my companion's meal was equally good as I did not see any left-overs on the plate. Both excellent sized servings washed down with a bottle of white (I hesitate to say I was talking so much, I failed to notice which one it was exactly!). All in all, one would say a great success as we were the last to leave (the indicia of an excellent lunch) and seriously considered staying on for happy hour - will leave that for next time. Thanks Team Silo!
With a westerly blowing my partner and I were looking for lunch and we tried Silo. The service and food were good. Staff were attentive and made us feel very welcomed. There are several restaurants in this area so I thought the choice of meals would be better. I had Prawn and Chilli Linguini with so many prawns. Service was good and price were ok.
Went to Silos last week to celebrate my wife's birthday Booked the day before and asked if they have vegetarian options My daughter is a vegetarian.
Great location overlooking the river. Service was average and we had to wait almost an hour for our food to arrive even though the restaurant was only about half full! Having said that the staff were polite and helpful. Wine list is reasonable but quite pricey and the quality of the dishes varied. The salt & pepper squid and battered fish & chips were average however the risotto, duck salad & beef cheeks were excellent.
