What andrew j dislikes about Rustica:
The food quality was disappointing. While the decor is nice, the food does not match the high prices they charge. The menu offers a standard selection of dishes that are overpriced. View all feedback.
Went to this Restaurant for a special event, this Restaurant was selected on the recommendation of others. They were correact, from the time you enter there is an atmosphere about the place that is excellence, and friendly. The Waitress who served us knew her work and knowledge of the food and the size of the serves, a professional approach. When the food came the friendly service continued, the lamb tasted excellent, the duck was slightly over cooked. Deserts were great.
We had time to kill before a meeting and decided to get a bite to eat. Such a good view, friendly service and good food. We'll definitely come back when were in this neck of the woods again. RECOMMENDED
Have long wanted to go to Rustica and finally made it last weekend. My expectations were high and I was not disappointed. The staff were friendly and service was perfect. The views were a little hampered by the roadworks outside but still it is one of the best spots in Newcastle. Quirky and interesting decor and has a lively atmosphere. We started with the Arancini - amazing. Perfectly prepared rice within, golden crust and the Parmesan crumb on the side with aoili was scrumptious. Had to have the lamb shoulder which seems to have become the signature dish - it simply melted in the mouth. The potatos and vegetables (steal all the candied walnuts before your partner does) were perfect. Topped it off with an Espresso Martini.Unfortunately I had no room for dessert but will be back to try the lava cake.Highly recommended and we will return.
