I have been working in Newcastle for the past few months and frequent Gifones Italian Restaurant quite often. I have found Roberto and Briana to be the most welcoming hosts. The service is first class and the selection and quality of food presented by Roberto...has always been top notch. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Honeysuckle Harbour. I can’t wait for my next visit to support this awe... View all feedback.
What Mic W doesn't like about Ristorante Il Grifone:
I'd love to be feeling more generous here but 2 stars are about as much as I can muster. Left waiting to order we eventually went to counter. Our table was eventually set by two boys who seemed half asleep and very disinterested. The food quality had dropped quite a bit since I'd been here 2 years ago. The flat coke lemon lime bitters seemed to reflect this restaurant perfectly. View all feedback.
As the gastfreundschaft sector tries to recover from the lockdowns, it is all the more surprising when the business is turned away. we went in at 8.30 a.m. and were informed that the kitchen is closed. this as two tables gave their order. they deserve too much money.
A very good restaurant on the Honeysuckle Wharf area of newcastle. serviced was the first advice and we enjoyed looking over the river and harbour with beautiful night lights. we enjoyed the calamari entree and very beautiful pasta nets followed by a reasonable tiramisu. the house weinkaraffe was very pleasant no pizza on the menu, but the pasta, service and setting made for a very nice night.
Not too many diners due to winter season. saponified by the cold weather. choose the menu (main and dessert bottle wein for $130 pp good value. attentive server with good quality eating. about half an hour between the order and. when the main was served, the time to relax and enjoy a glass of wine.
Underwhelmed, previous reviews speak for themselves. rude staff and double the price served for the standard of the food. better options in honeysuckle.
Just came back from grifone. OMG. I was so disappointed. We waited at least 45 min for our entree. My mother was with us and she is a diabetic so the wait was super long for her. When we asked how long it would be...before we would get something to eat the waitress assured us that it was on its way which it wasn’t. When we complained about the long wait she insisted that we only waited for 20 min which is when the ticket was put through apparently. I’m sorry but we waited at least 45 minutes. I don’t know when the ticket was put through but I know that we positively did not wait 20 for our entree. So let me tell you about that: it was meant to be an antipasto board with olives salami mozzarella sundries tomatoes but it was such a small amount considering that it was $25 dollars. OMG poor poor poor. It was so not worth $25. That was such a joke. So disappointing. Oh and did I mention that this was meant to be a special occasion as it was my husbands 55 th birthday. I was so upset and disappointed that this special night tuned out to be a great failure. I was truly embarrassed. We didn’t t wait long for our main meal but oh God it was so ordinary. The meals we not really hot more like Luke warm and I wouldn’t dare complain again. I am Italian- I should have stayed home and cooked my husband a proper Italian meal because I can cook so much better than the food that was brought out for us. The meals were bland and just slopped on the plates without any thought of aesthetics ie eating with your eyes first and then with your palette. Also there was no salt in sight. Just pepper. A small amount of salt is meant to bring out the flavour of the meal. I was not game to ask for salt. One of my entourage has the rib eye steak which I had a taste of and omg I had to spit it out. Bland bland bland. Awful. Between you and me I think that they made our meals as bad as possible on purpose because we complained about the long wait for our entree. God I was so disappointed. This was meant to be a good night to celebrate my husband’s birthday and he was so not impressed and I just felt so bad in the end. I don’t mind paying money for good service and good/great food but let me tell you that I felt like I got robbed. I think it would have been better if we went to our local pub because they know how to give you good food for a good price and not have to wait so **** long for your food to come. So regretted going to Grifone. So people DONT GO TO GRIFONE THEY ARE OVER PRICED FOR FOOD THAT JUST IS PRETTY MUCH ORDINARY. PS. The wine was really good.
