Contribute FeedbackPizza Express in Newcastle offers a mixed dining experience that reflects a need for improvement. Guests frequently notice issues with cleanliness and ambiance, contributing to an overall worn-out feel. Despite the location's appealing exterior and potential, staff shortages often lead to overwhelmed servers and inconsistent service. While some diners report enjoyable meal components, including flavorful pizzas, others find dishes average and overpriced, especially drinks. Access to restrooms poses challenges for those with mobility issues, as they're located up steep stairs. Though there's promise in the menu and atmosphere, many patrons agree that more attention to detail could enhance the experience significantly.
Really sad what happened to this food chain; the quality of food is abysmal, staff spent their time chatting amongst each other instead of caring for diners and food tastes pre cook and 'out of the tin ' disgraceful
There were only three diners in the restaurant. Ordered a starter and a main course. Waited 30 minutes. They forgot the starter. Goodness knows how they would cope if there were, say, six people to serve! Not good enough.
This location is in much need of some investment and tender loving care. During our visit in the early evening, our server was overwhelmed with too many customers to serve adequately. Although she was working hard, it was still difficult for her to keep up. Despite being a frequent customer at this Pizza Express branch, this was the first time I had to tackle the challenging climb to the restroom, which was located up two flights of steep stairs. The restroom was very disappointing, with dirty conditions, no lock on the door, and a dirty diaper left on top of the air freshener. This falls well below the usual high standard that one would expect from this establishment.
We have eaten here many times over the years and it has always been typical Pizza Express fare; nothing remarkable but good service. This was true of our recent visit but I feel compelled to point out a major problem with this restaurant. It's located in a grand, red-brick building at the bottom fo a steep hill leading down to the Tyne. Access is via a short but steep flight of stairs followed by two sets of doors leading into the restaurant. There are no wheelchair-friendly options but even if there was the toilets present an impossible challenge to anyone with heart, mobility or respiratory problems. They are up a total of 48, very steep stairs. I am reasonably fit but was somewhat out of breath when I reached the top. The location of the toilets is ridiculous and must take many diners by surprise. Pizza Express should do more to alert diners to these difficulties.
We visited pizza express in the afternoon, we got seated straightaway after having a quick look at the menu we went for pizza, i got the spicy beef one, the taste was really just the way i like it. the service was good, im not giving 5 stars only because i think its a bit pricey.
