My wife and I were looking for a place by the ski area for a drink. Other places were full and we stumbled upon Mountain Spirits. It is a hotel with a bar/restaurant. What it was lacking in charm was made up for in friendliness. We had beer and chicken wings. Both were good. We sat in couches by a gas fireplace and there were just a few others in the place. So, it ended up being fine, just nothing special. Not a plac... View all feedback.
What Elle T doesn't like about Mountain Spirits Tavern:
Laughably bad. Since I 'm gluten free, one of the few items on the menu I could eat was the steak special ; there was more gristle than not-gristle. I was really hungry so I didn 't refuse it or complain but I did snap a photo just because it was hilariously bad and my whole table kind of poked fun. The poor server was noticably embarrassed that she had to put that in front of me and when the check arrived, she 'd pr... View all feedback.
Not bad if you like IPAs or generic beer, not a great selection otherwise. Nice space but small food menu

Great people, awesome bar tenders and staff that go above and. Round a “title†to make sure all needs, wants and suggestions are met.

The poor server was noticably embarrassed that she had to put that in front of me and when the check arrived, she 'd preemptively given us half off my meal. These 2 stars go to the server that was put in an awkward position and for mountain lodge ambience which some people like... Your steak still sucked!
While I don 't agree with the run away mentality (it wasn 't that bad , it 's basically Dairy Queen fare at mid-range prices. The hot toddy drinks after skiing were acceptable, specifically the b52 Coffee suggested by our bartender, who was helpful in many ways (Adam? . To the food, my wife and I had nachos (decent, but processed-heavy , then I had a roast beef wrap, she had the Virginia ham wrap. Serious, they were wraps. Kind of pricy, a little dry like they were made a bit in advance. The kids ordered off the kid menu, grilled cheese and a mini-lasagna. Grilled cheese was acceptable, mini-lasagna probably came out of a can. Table next to our got the more expensive fair (some kind of gumbo and a $20+ prime rib and grumbled through their meal. I think you order low-end fare, expect to pay mid-range prices, and enjoy the skiing. If you come here looking for a great steak, you 're probably going to misfire. Several reviewers said there 's better food a short drive away, and this is true. We just didn 't want to give up parking spaces and losing the drive time when we could be skiing.
