My husband and I went there for lunch. After ordering I noticed a sign that said authentic Mexican food. I ask our server about that, she said the beans were made with LARD. And the Rice was made with Chicken Stock. A few years ago this would not have bothered me. Now we are trying to eat a bit healthier. If this does not bother you great! I choose not to load my body with lard. I have not eaten chicken for 10 years, I asumed rice was a dish served with out meat renderings.
We arrived right in the middle of the lunch rush, and the restaurant was nearly full. However, the tables and floors were impeccably clean, just like grandma's house. The decor was festive and fitting for the atmosphere. Within two minutes, we were served water with lemon and chips with salsa. We were starving after driving around for half an hour to find this place, so we were very grateful to start eating right away. A friendly lady took our order, and the food came out in just a few minutes. I had #12, Hermosillo, choosing the green chili sauce for my beef dish, which was served with a generous portion of rice and beans. I finished every last grain of rice and every bean on my plate – it was absolutely delicious. I even poured the remaining salsa over the beans and used the tortilla that came with my meal to finish them off. My wife ordered #1, Mazatlan, which comes with a taco and a cheese enchilada topped with the most heavenly enchilada sauce. She can’t get enough of that sauce! We’ll definitely be returning this weekend for more. We also ordered two more meals to go for our daughters at home. The prices are very reasonable as well. It really feels like a family-run restaurant–the kind of place I love to visit, as I prefer avoiding restaurants owned by hedge funds or large corporations. Great food, wonderful people, and excellent prices!
Ochoa's is fantastic! They make their own tortillas, enchilada sauce, and beans. I've eaten Mexican food all across the country, and Ochoa's is the best I've found. The only thing they don't serve is carne asada, but that's not a big deal for me. I highly recommend trying the Ethington Special with green chili; it’s my favorite!
