What healthandlifestyle doesn't like about Chesters:
Went round for Sunday lunch. The meat (lamb) was plentiful and soft and tender except with your eyes shut it could easily have been beef it simply did not taste of lamb. There was enough veg in the traditional plain boiled in water style which has been acceptable for 100 years so I guess that's ok. Nothing overall to complain about but not one of us could go home and say we'd had a really tasty lunch. View all feedback.

This pub was round the corner from a b&b we were staying at so easy to walk to. We were made very welcome and all the staff were friendly and efficient. There was a good choice of traditional pub food, very generous portions and both meals we chose were excellent. I don’t know how they do it for the incredibly reasonable cost. I would happily recommend Chesters!
My wife's specific dietary requirements were taken into consideration and met, allowing her to fully enjoy her liver and bacon casserole. My pizza was a bit tough. Despite this, we would definitely come back to the restaurant, but we'll be skipping the pizza next time.
I went with a group of people for a festive lunch that had been pre-ordered, so I'm not sure why it took so long to come out of the kitchen. The price was reasonable, but it would have been nice to have received our food in a more timely manner. We waited 30 minutes for our pre-ordered starters, and once we finished those, we waited another 30 minutes for the main course. This meant that my friend, who hadn't ordered a starter, had to wait a total of an hour and 20 minutes before she received any food at all. I have to say, the turkey dinner was delicious. However, I think having three different types of potatoes was unnecessary – most people would have been happy with just roasties, so the mash and new potatoes felt wasteful. My friend had the salmon, which she didn't enjoy, but my turkey was excellent. We didn't have dessert.
Had a lovely Sunday lunch with family food was very good catering for vegans and meat eaters. Staff very friendly and helpful.
