What Kapil Puri doesn't like about Brownlow Arms:
Camp site small, amenities ie toilets for the campsite dreadful, don’t mind rough and ready but unkempt and unhygienic that’s another matter! Food was several hours late even though it was pre ordered, lots better sites out there for the money we paid. View all feedback.
Beautiful location with a decent campsite. ideal for families with walks along the river trent. the pub serves decent meals to make reasonable trips. the series of lays and the real ales. entertainment is often offered.
The food here is fabulous, new chef/cook and the homemade specials are fab, portions are value for money and the Sunday roasts care fabulous, well worth a try
Campsite Dirty and unkept. Traffic cone in middle of field where tree had been felled. Toilets and shower facilities dirty and unstocked. No toilet roll or hand towels. Hand wash left empty so I had to fill with water and make do. I paid £15...per night to basically park my van. Saturday we found the toilet block locked. We were told it had been miss used and the block would be locked, with a key available from the pub. Totally unsuitable. The landlady even told me that the use of toilet block was at her discretion. I am sure Environmental Health will be interested in her attitude. Pub Booked for 630 on Friday of stay. Ordered food and sat in a corner table instead of with group we had booked with who were in a separate room. The table next to us was used and vacated. Noone came to clean it in the time we remained there. At 745pm asked bar staff how long our food would be. Told a couple more minutes. At 815 we asked land lady where our food was. We were then told the chef was young and new, and they'd had some trouble. By that stage I was too hungry to wait any longer so cancelled, paid for our drinks and left. Attitude We were treated poorly all weekend by staff. It was even reported that we were badly spoken of to other guests by the landlady. I will not be returning. And am saddened I have to give any stars in my rating as I would have given minus if able to
We found this little gem whilst out on a cycle explore, excellent beers on offer, and a good choice of wine, we opted for the lager on this occasion due to being thirsty, well kept and served with a smile, no food being served when...we visited but we'll certainly be back to try it.
The brownlow arms welcome everyone. the employees are hard to make the drinks flow, the eating is delicious and the entertainment and venue for parties is great. beautiful for a family meeting, drink couples or socialize with friends. it's a pub that you can go in alone and don't feel uncomfortable. I recommend a visit and they also have campsites available.
