Nineteen Eighty One - New Zealand

This was our first visit to 1981, and we had a wonderful experience. The waitress was very friendly and told us about the specials. When I inquired about a non-alcoholic version of one of their cocktails, she happily said it was no problem. For our appetizer, we ordered the garlic cob. For the main courses, my wife chose the steak and kidney pie with mashed potatoes, and I had the sun-dried tomato and feta cheese stuffed chicken fillet. My wife claimed it was the best pie she had ever tasted, and I thoroughly enjoyed my stuffed chicken as well. The decor brought back a lot of memories. We are already looking forward to our next visit!

Closed!!!! It was difficult to locate this restaurant as it seems to have been out of business for quite a while. I would suggest looking for another place to eat.

I have to be honest; my initial impressions weren't great. The restaurant felt quite open and empty for a Friday night at 7 PM. It did get a bit busier as the night progressed, but not significantly. While the place certainly shows its age—both positively and negatively—the men's restroom could use some improvement. On the plus side, the food was excellent, and the service was very good too. Everyone in our party of nine felt that the food exceeded our expectations. I’m giving it one less star because of the overall appearance, but I would rate the food a solid four stars.

I visited for dinner this week, and both the food and service were fantastic! Our group of nine was thoroughly impressed. The food was fresh and delicious, with generous portions at great prices. The ribs were the best I’ve had in a long time! We will definitely return the next time we're nearby. Thank you, 1981!

I only visited once, but I had a wonderful experience. The atmosphere was quite unique, featuring vintage game machines and a table tennis setup. It was also peaceful and quiet.
