Whenever I visit Midtown in New York, I always make sure to get the chicken katsu don. Even though I now live in New Jersey, I never leave New York without stopping by Sunrise Mart for my favorite dish. The food is just as delicious as it was when I lived in the city, and nothing compares to the Japanese cuisine at this restaurant. View all feedback.

This restaurant is small but mighty. The new location in the market is much brighter and spacious. They have a large second floor alcove that is beautiful. The staff is friendly and I will definitely be coming back for my Japanese food fix.
There is no other place in midtown like Sunrise Mart when it comes to snacks. They offer a wide variety of sweet, salty, spicy, acidic, crispy, and chewy options to satisfy any craving, all in colorful packaging with unique designs. But Sunrise Mart is more than just a snack shop - they also have a range of Japanese ingredients, frozen foods, Bento boxes, and prepared bites like onigiri. Whether you're looking for a quick snack like Pocky or a meal on-the-go like onigiri, Sunrise Mart has you covered. The store may seem crowded due to the narrow aisles and numerous products, but the checkout lines move fairly quickly, especially when there are multiple cashiers on duty. Since the pandemic, the store has felt less crowded with fewer people in midtown during lunch and dinner times. The products are conveniently located near the front, with snacks in the center and other items on shelves or in refrigerated units. Overall, the service at Sunrise Mart is fast and efficient.
Whenever I used to visit Midtown in New York, I would always order the Chicken Katsu Don. Even though I now live in New Jersey, I make sure to stop by Sunrise Mart in New York City to get my favorite dish whenever I'm in the area. The food at Sunrise Mart is unmatched and I haven't found anything quite like it at other Japanese restaurants I've visited.
This fantastic Japanese restaurant offers a wide variety of fresh snacks, sweets, sushi, and hot food items. One side of the store is a grocery store while the other side mainly offers food to go. They also have an upstairs dining area. The staff is very friendly and I particularly enjoyed the fresh sashimi, which was buttery and delicious. They also have fresh toro imported from Japan.
