finally a Japanese spot that doesn't all about sushi! all sides are vegan and many other dishes too. I love it, the page samplers chose 5 for 14, because it is a teller full of delicious sweetness that they don't get the most places. all sizes are on the smaller side, so they do not leave completely filled, but still satisfied. What Campbell Cross doesn't like about Gohan-ya At Lovely Day:
They advertise japanese style curry but what they served us was more Thai or Indian style curry (see photos). I did like the chicken a lot that we added onto the curry for $4 extra. I did like the kubota pumpkin soup. Its a chill place but the food took too long to come out and its not described properly (not true japanese style curry). They also lose a star from me for being “cash only american express only”. View all feedback.
I visited Gohan-ya, which is the same restaurant as A Lovely Day, and ordered their salmon dinner with two sides. The meal tasted like something I could easily make at home. The waitstaff were friendly and attentive. The only downside was that they only accept American Express or cash, so I had to use the ATM inside the restaurant.
The food was terrible! It was awful and a complete disaster. It was a culinary nightmare that I would never recommend. The place was also very dirty and smelled like something had died. Additionally, they copied the name of the previous restaurant, "gohan."
Nice waiter but this google listing is just fully inaccurate and should be taken down. Gohan-ya no longer exists as a restaurant. None of the pictures or reviews here reflect reality, because Gohan-ya has been taken over by Lovely Day which serves tasty Thai food, but disappointing Japanese food on a small side-menu titled Gohan-yaI came here for some Japanese comfort food (the curry that gohan-ya was known for) and was given a runny broth with sichuan peppers and a fork to eat it with. It wasn’t awful but certainly wasn’t what was advertised or something I’d ever order again. Also they only take cash or Amex here
I ordered delivery from here today and it was very late but honestly the food was so good i couldn’t begin to be mad. it tastes like home cooking, but prepared by someone with professional skill. it made me feel cozy inside. <3
The salmon Bowles sashimi quality isn't the best. Chikarashi has much better quality sashimi for the price.Chicken teishoku set is underwhelming. It doesn't come with miso soup or rice which was my fault for not noticing the add on... however japanese food not coming with rice is confusing I was not aware of the gluten-free identity of the restaurantGohan-ya started sharing the same restaurant space with the Thai restaurant lovely day around 2020. When reading reviews take note of the date.
