Visiting in New York for a conference and decided to try Japanese BBQ. I ordered the short ribs with extra white rice. It also came with salad and miso soup. The portion size is extremely great for the value. The total was about $28 plus tax and only about a 8 min walk from Times Square. What Ukfan dislikes about Gyu-kaku Japanese Bbq:
I took my three children to this restaurant. It was clear that the person in charge of seating did not pay attention, as we were seated next to a table that was unpleasant. There were five men using inappropriate language and behaving like fake gangsters. This was not the environment I wanted my children to be exposed to for an hour and a half. It was disgraceful. The food at this restaurant was delicious, but customers might need to do some BBQing themselves. Our party of seven found the table to be too small, meant for six people, making it feel cramped and uncomfortable. The restaurant is located on the second floor of the building, so it may be difficult for those with mobility issues to access.
The customer service at this restaurant is superb! The ventilation is also excellent.

I was underwhelmed with the quality of the food for the value.
Hira provided exceptional service! Had a great time with my family! Will definitely go back
