Was a bit worried after reading some recent less than favorable reviews, but the three of us loved our food. Kale Salad, calamari salad (one was dressed quite a bit more than the other, focaccia breadsticks, jw potatoes, jw gnocchi (served with corn, tomatoes basil) and sea bass. Also loved the phony Negroni. While the food was delicious the atmosphere not so much very dark and so loud it was hard to carry on a conve... View all feedback.

A Big Disappointment: Over-Hyped and UnderwhelmingIf you're seeking a culinary experience that's worthy of the hype, I strongly recommend you look elsewhere. Our recent visit to Barbuto left us with a bitter taste in our mouths. From the moment we walked in, it was clear that the restaurant's popularity had gone to their heads. The waitstaff seemed disinterested and overwhelmed, with service that was far from the standard you'd expect in a city known for its world-class dining. As for the food, the menu might read like a dream, but the execution fell flat. Everything we ordered was painfully under-seasoned, lacking the depth of flavor you'd anticipate from a restaurant of this caliber. Especially the pasta dishes. It's perplexing that a place known for its exclusivity can't get the basics right. Chef Waxman criticizes seasoning on national TV on a regular basis. And, in general, we find him very inspiring. In a city teeming with incredible dining options, Barbuto is a stark reminder that popularity doesn't always equate to quality. Save your time, money, and taste buds for a place that truly deserves your patronage.I’ve lived in New York City for ten years.
In general, the food was well executed. The milanese, chicken, bolognese, and Hannah pizza were simple but delicious (the chicken entrée, weirdly to me, didn't come with any sides). The cavatelli tasted off there was no flavor to the pasta itself or the dish and it wasn't until after dinner that I realized that the pasta was probably undercooked. Service was excellent on the whole, but we felt a bit rushed when they asked us, 3 times, whether we were done before everyone's forks were down. Beautiful location and venue.
I lived in New York for many years and visit frequently and in all my time then to my visits now this is one of the best restaurants in New York, and I have been to most. Let's just say I prefer Barbuto to Le Bernardin or any Mario Batali restaurant I have been too.
I had dinner at the bar, and it was just what i was craving! The bolognese was delicious, and I really enjoyed the gin cocktail on the menu. The chocolate hazelnut cake was nice and light, perfectly capping off my meal. Special thanks to Gipsy at the bar for her excellent service, I really appreciated it! Thanks for the great evening :
