The poutine here was the first and only poutine I've ever had so I'm gonna stick with the Spud Shack. There are many options, the baked potato poutine which is poutine with green onions, bacon and sour cream is my favorite. I would get a small if its for one person but if you're sharing, splurge on the medium or large; the small is enough for one person. They also have vegan options for those who are vegan. The resta... The super creative menu drew me in to this place; it really is very appealing and everything sounds great. Where they lack however is execution. fries were undercooked, main ingredients like proteins and sauces were overlooked and just lacking in the dish. and can't forget the blonde hair in the mayo!It is a nicely decorated place, staff is friendly, not somewhere you'd want to be for a date night because it's so har... On my first ever trip to Canada, there was no question about what my first meal would be.
My new favorite poutine is the Night MarketI tried it after reading other Yelpers' reviews and I agree with them.
The way they prepare their fries make them nicely cooked and crispy. A touch of salt and their excellent Malta Vinegar tops!
Went here after a few years of wandering by and thinking "I wonder how good it is". Did some research on this wonderful website which gave this place a pretty good rating and saw that they offer some GF options. The only GF options they have aren't really poutine. They are fries with curds and whatever other sauce you've chosen. Hubby got the traditional and I got a butter chicken. The fries on both were hot and definitely crispy but they were dry and had no substance in the middle. It was as if they were being fried for so long to get the crispiness but they forgot about the integrity of the interior of the fry too. The curds on both of our meals were cold and not melted at all. Hubby took his back up to the counter to ask them to heat it up so the curds would melt and the chef ended up just making a new batch rather than throwing the existing one into a salamander or microwave or something. Such a waste. Anyway, second batch was still the same issue. He said it wasn't that great.Mine also had cold curds and therefore wasn't melted. I didn't bother complaining after I saw what they did with hubby's meal. The butter chicken was not great. There wasn't really much of a sauce that coated the fries and the sauce that was there was just a watered down mess. The chicken pieces were a decent size but again, were dry and the texture just said overcooked to me.Overall a huge let down. We will not be returning to this place as there are plenty of other spots with much better poutine and who offer traditional poutine with a GF gravy.
We tried the poutine and were not disappointed! My husband had the original and he loved it! I tried the Jamba and it was delicious! We'll be back for sure!
