This place is a little unnoticeable space on 6th Street in New West that is a hidden jewel. The food is DELICIOUS. Somehow they have had reviews stating their portions are small, but I've eaten at many an Indian food restaurant and found them to be more than ample...no bigger or smaller than any other Indian restaurant i've eaten in. The lamb saag is very yummy as is the butter chicken. They will also make you a side... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Royal Tandoori Restaurant:
This place is really like you are on Indian time ( if you plan on having dinner at your home and do a takeout; your guest will have to wait for hours for food ( they tell you 20mins but it's like an hour ( the owner; he tells you it's food industry) come check out the kichen to see how busy it is!. You think they will apologize or if give you discount because they are wayyyyy late! Nopa!. Worst service EVER !! View all feedback.
I've been wanting Indian food for a few weeks now, and we finally managed it. We had not tried Royal Tandoori before and are very happy we did! We just finished the Veggie Korma, Butter Chcken! Lamb Vindaloo and some veggie pakoras, and it was all delicious. I'm not really a huge fan of lamb, generally, but theirs is wonderful. The vegetables in the korma dish were still firm and not overcooked, and the sauce was lovely and creamy. We will definitely be going back. Well done, and thank you for an excellent meal!
I've been ordering from this place for couple of years but stopped a month ago. The food quality drooped to a point that I would not order again or recommend
Despite I have been living in New West for more than 7 years and this restaurant is just half a block away I have visited that place just once before, long time ago. When I walked by that restaurant, I found it usually totally empty; rarely I saw one or two tables occupied. As far as I remember, the impression of the previous meal there was not so great. Nevertheless I wanted to try it again. I have been intending to do so already last year; But at that time it haven’t been open despite it was shown as open and it was within the business hours. Few days ago I convinced my friend to try to visit this restaurant again for dinner. It was a big mistake. We ordered “Akber Ki Pasand a non-vegetable Thali” (Incl. veggie Samosa, Pakauras, Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Curry, mixed veggies, Nan, lentils, rice, Paped, Chutney and a Gulab Jamun as dessert) and Bhuna Chicken. Additionally, we ordered Garlic Nan and Mango Ice Cream as a second dessert. While the Bhuna Chicken was not special but ok, the Thali was very diappointing: The Samosa was tasteless and got just a bit taste from the “tamarind” sauce (provided in a plastic bottle). The “Pakauras” (I believe they meant pakoras) were acceptable. The Chicken Curry was exactly the same what I got served as main dish (Bhuna Chicken). The mixed veggies didn’t taste fresh at all; they were almost tasteless too. I couldn’t find any lentils but Chickpeas that didn’t have the typical Chickpea taste. And this item what I considered a piece of carrot on top of the rice was most likely the piece of Tandoori Chicken. It looked terrible and was absolutely tasteless. The “Paped” (I believe they meant Papadam/Papadum) was ok. Both types of nan were also ok. Besides the Tandoori Chicken, the worst items were the desserts: The Gulab Jamun (usually my favourite) looked already rather like an Indian pastry than the well-known dessert. And although I prefered the Gulab Jamun not so soft and soaked, this one was very firm (politely said). And it was served along with the main dish but not after that as it used to be for a dessert. Despite I ate it immediately, it was just lukewarm. Additionally, this item didn’t have the typical taste of a Gulab Jamun. Considering the properties of that dessert I had the impression (supported by the fact that there were almost no other customers) that this Gulab Jamun was very old and just warmed up in a microwave. The second dessert was also not satisfying: According to its taste it was the cheapest, most artificial mango ice cream I have ever eaten. The taste didn’t come even close to a taste of real Mangos. As a conclusion, this restaurant is one of the worst Indian restaurants I have visited in the past years. I am not recommending to eat there at all.

They will also make you a side of VERY hot sauce in case some of your party are not into hot food (order it medium and add the hot sauce). perfect. also, good rotis....a great find.
Good place in this nice city that most looks like a neighborhood of the big Vancouver. According to the advertisement of the restaurant, he is first in nine slots! the place is quite simple. the service was very nice. the menu is quite varied, starting from the beginning you choose the protein, beef, lamb, chicken u camarã0, among other options, and here comes the question! Mild, medium, hot or super hot!!!! I chose the mild and my son and husband by the medium. I tasted the option of my son as soon as the dishes arrived. well, I almost descended the entire bottle of cold water that was the table! Order the famous bread! it serves to accompany the sauce that is well fed. If you want to try the most spicy options, do not forget to take a fire extinguisher!
