What User doesn't like about D Roti Shak:
Airy room, brightly painted. Friendly server. Rotis, curries, a couple of specials. We all had rotis...two goat, one chicken. Satisfying portions of freshly made food. The goat was very spicy, the chicken, less so. Served with a small salad. A bit more of the salad or a cleslsw would be appreciated. Small selection of Caribbean drinks plus beer go well with the food. Nice addition to the neighbourhood. View all feedback.
I reviewed this restaurant a few days ago after reading the reviews. I have also made sure that I check his website and menu before the arrival. When I arrived, I ordered the roti dahlpurie because many of the other vegetarian items were sold out or...not available. the prices on the website are warned and restaurant menu are not the same as what they calculate them at the time. in the did, the day I showed up, I was charged another price from what was written on the restaurant menu (on a board above the kitchen entrance.) I was charged more. although the website was given the article price as $9, I was charged over $12 for a withdrawal vegetarian roti dahlpurie. it is similar to a very filled burrito or soft samosa. however, burritos, which cost much to have several ingredients and contain meat. I could only squirrel, snatch and make more kartoffels. the take-out that I ordered came only with the roti, no salat or anything else with him for the price of $12, in contrast to the picture that she saw on the website *welcher salat.* all that said it seemed fresh and was delicious and tasteful. the restaurant does not have much ambiente and would not be likely a place I would invite friends to go for a celebrity meal etc. however, the server/owner was very friendly and appealing. would I come back soon? I am not sure that this is a quite staple price tag (not to mention inaccurate and a false representation) for a piece of thin teig filled with what just kartoffels and inherit. I think I get a better buck for the Vietnamese restaurant near.
Authentic redi, very tasteful, make yuh want licking d plate near boy. that's the real man, really, if you don't know trini roti, it's fantastic. boiled curry with potato bursting with taste packed in a beautiful soft Roti wrap. there are...so much bad big boxing restaurants without taste and higher prices, they make themselves a taste (probably) and try to assist yuh belly with thanks chef! also local businesses. feel them d vibe! try d goat.
We finally got some take out yesterday, roti and aloo pie. Awesome flavors and massive portion! I've been wanting to try it but their current hours are 11 am 6 pm so it's always closed. Also if you do get take out, call and...find out about their specials. I didn't realize they had jerk chicken until I got there. The owner is a character! Worth the trip!
I have a craving for roti every once in a while and finally found a place that serves it how I like it with a chickpea shell, yellow curry with potatoes, a choice of meat fillings and a little spice
They take their time, but the rotis are worth the wait. Tried the beef and goat and each was delicious. Get the roti from D Roti Shack, but sneak next door to the Caribbean Store and grab a ginger beer or Ting to wash it...down.
