New Ulm Turner Hall

The oldest bar in Minnesota takes pride in being a thirst-quenching dive, and I visited it on a Thursday to find a good spot for camping out during Vikings games, though it might not be the best choice for that. Nevertheless, Turner Hall offers a nice rustic atmosphere. It seems a bit strange to say this, but the place really needs more patrons to truly reflect the vibe it's trying to create. I usually enjoy a quiet setting, but it felt ironic for such a historic venue to be lacking even a few customers and regulars. My friend ordered a Reuben, which we both agreed is the best in town. The sandwich was loaded with chunks of corned beef right off the brisket and plenty of sauerkraut. I opted for the bleu cheese burger, which was delicious, although it could have used a bit more bleu cheese. I definitely plan to return, as I'm curious to see what else they have to offer and to experience the place with a livelier crowd.

I visited during the weekend of Schell's Octoberfest and decided to stop by for a meal. I ordered the full rack of ribs, and they were the most delicious ribs I’ve ever tasted. The restaurant itself has a fascinating history. It’s definitely worth a visit!

The atmosphere is incredible, providing an authentic German experience, and the beer is served ice cold. The beer cheese sauce is fantastic, and the turner sauce is simply perfect. Our bartender, Eli, made excellent recommendations and provided outstanding service; plus, he sported a cool mustache.

Great cocktails and even better food. Eli made for an excellent experience. Get the fish and chips!

Beth, our server, took excellent care of us. We wanted to spend time relaxing and enjoying the evening and not rush through cocktails and dinner. Me and my husband had the prime rib dinner special and it was very tasty. The place is charming andreminiscent of places we visited in Germany. We got Schell?s beer to go at the bar to enjoy at our B&B. So good!
