Hook Lighthouse Cafe - New ross
Hook Lighthouse Cafe
Description
Nestled near the iconic Hook Head Lighthouse, the café boasts stunning coastal views and offers a menu highlighting locally sourced fish dishes. With generous portions and various gluten-free options, it has a lot going for it. However, recent visits have been marred by inconsistent customer service, with some patrons reporting rudeness from staff. Food quality also appears hit-or-miss, with a desire for better presentation and creativity. Despite these setbacks, the café continues to attract visitors, offering a pleasant atmosphere and a helpful staff, especially praised for their kindness to guests with disabilities. Many hope for improved experiences on future visits.

Love this cafe, visited the lighthouse and stopped in afterwards for a snack. The scones are HUGE and very fresh. My father in law had the chowder and loved it. Also good coffee!. The kids had cakes and crisps. This is my second time visiting and would definitely go back. The kids (8 4 yo) made some slate art with Rose just off the cafe while we were there. It only took about half an hour and they loved their slates. Highly recommend for kids if you want to entertain them while you are having your coffee.
Think it's called the lightkeepers breakfast. Huge breakfast, including 2 slices of toast and tea/coffee all for €11.95. Really tasty and filling. Not many places left where you would get a big decent Irish breakfast for that price. Lots of tables inside and outside with stunning views. They also do great coffee, cakes, scones and full lunch menu (hot and cold, sandwiches made to order etc. plus kids meals. A must when visiting Hook Pennisula and the beautiful lighthouse.
Delicious food and attentive, friendly staff. We enjoyed lunch here as a family of four while waiting for our tour. The café was clean, and the overall experience was very pleasant.
The lighthouse tour and overall experience at Hook Lighthouse Cafe are fantastic, and having a cafe on the premises makes it a great spot for families to enjoy a full day out. When we visited the day after a bank holiday, the morning was fairly quiet, but it became busier in the early afternoon as several tour buses arrived. The cafe served a range of hot meals, with chips being a favorite among visitors. We opted for a coffee and a delicious scone, which was very satisfying.
I can't praise the staff at Hook Lighthouse Cafe enough. I visited with three individuals who receive disability services on a respite trip in Wexford. The team was incredibly kind and patient, and even the lighthouse employees took the time to engage with my clients. They had an amazing experience, and we are truly grateful to everyone for making them feel so welcome. Thank you once again!
