Portofino - New Plymouth

After ordering our drinks, we decided to start with some appetizers while we perused the menu. The garlic pizza was delightful, featuring actual pieces of garlic on the bread rather than the typical soggy garlic bread. Our main courses followed shortly after we ordered, and the service was attentive as we were offered drinks before our meals arrived. I truly enjoyed my chicken fettuccine, while my partner relished his parmigiana. I would definitely return to Portofino, and I’m also looking forward to visiting their Auckland location. The restaurant had a lovely atmosphere; the music was at a perfect volume, and it really felt Italian, just as the website described. Overall, we were very satisfied with our experience. The menu has so many tempting options that I’ll have to come back several times to try everything I wanted!

Five of us visited Portofino's last night and we were absolutely thrilled with our dining experience. The food was exceptional; the chef clearly isn't shy about bold flavors. Italian cuisine should be full of robust tastes, and this restaurant delivered wonderfully! The service was attentive and friendly. The menu offered great options at reasonable prices, and their wine list featured some fantastic Italian wines along with other selections. We will definitely return whenever we're in New Plymouth. We had booked a table and arrived on time. We had another appointment an hour later and we we advised the staff of this (knowing that we were being a bit pushy) they set about preparing our meal. the service was attentive and excellent and the meals were very good. We really appreciated their flexibility and cheerful demeanour. Looking forward to a return visit.

We took friends to dinner here last night I must say I was a little concerned having read the latest reviews no need as our experience was wonderful!!The atmosphere was busy and friendly, I suspect there were many repeat customers.A broad menu offering a huge range of taste experiences with an interesting variety of Italian and other wines meant there was something for everyone.Compliments to the wait staff well groomed and efficient, polite while not being intrusive and they knew their stuff.We will definitely revisit this restaurant :

Went here for dinner last night with my friend and the food was absolutely amazing! I had a chicken fettucinni that was easily the best I have ever had anywhere, and my friend said her seafood risotto was amazing. We do a dinner date every two weeks and we will definitely be coming back to Portofino regularly, have been to a few other places over the last few months and none have even come close to Portofino. Was very busy aswell so obviously we are not alone in our opinion, and there was so much variety on the menu! Everything looked amazing and everyone around us seemed to be very happy with their meals as well. Great to see the chefs in the kitchen enjoying themselves not bad on the eyes either ; safe to say we will become regulars here
