Was recommended by family who ordered take out. We live minutes away but was passing through- thought we’d try it out. Fish and chips and a clan salad! Ate in a local park due to lockdown. View all feedback.
What Nils Winter doesn't like about Scran & Dram Scottish Public House:
Friendly staff, nice atmosphere, roomy seating. The family has been here a number of times, and look forward to going back. Fairly typical pub fair. Portions are generous. I find that the finished product is inconsistent. Some days the food is cooked to perfection, others it's not cooked enough and is a little on the cold side. We will continue trying this restaraunt as the rest of the experience is enjoyable. View all feedback.
Four of us ate at Scran & Dram the other night. I love their brie burger. Fries are fantastic. My husband had the liver and onions with mashed and he found them very tasty. Liver can be tricky. Our other friends had the fish & chips.
I'm a big fan of Scottish pubs. Not this one, though. Good selection of imported beers and spirits at fairly high prices. Our waitress told us the Steak & Guinness Pie was large enough for two. Not true unless you're eating child portions. The Guinness steak sauce was thin and flavourless. It wasn't in a full crust either. The side Caesar salad was soggy, devoid of garlic and tiny. Fish and chips platters nearby looked substantial and tasty. We shared a single pint of local ale that was quite good. The check was about $45 CAD including tip. Not worth it. Not recommended.
My son said we should all have lunch here so we did, arrived around noon on a monday,we were met right away and sat by "Taryn" out on the patio, menu' s and a round of beverages were quick,so was our oders ,food came out quickly, and taisted great, prices are fair, food was cooked well and presented well, mixed with friendly staff,a nice lunch out,try them out, cheers
We had been here prior when they just changed ownership and left just as our drinks arrived (25 minutes of waiting for them), so we decided to give it another try, as we hadn't actually tried the food. The service improvement was very noticeable, pleasant, interactive, and well done. With two young ones in tow, our server made sure they had their supper quickly, which was appreciated. The food overall was average pub and roadhouse, tasty and hardy, but fairly standard. We may return again and give another unique item a try to see if we missed the good stuff.
This place is within a 15 min walk of house and since changing names has improved greatly. Very nice selection of craft beer/beer in general and the food is just as good, staff is very attentive
