We visited opportunistically on a Sunday at opening time and luckily were able to get a table despite not having a booking. The man on the bar seemed unhappy to be there and even more unhappy that I was ordering food and drinks. We ordered a kids meal and a baked Camembert sharer. The kids meal was fine. The baked Camembert came with 2.5 slices of bread which was a surprise as this was described as a “sharer” and cost £15. Luckily we had a bag of old mini cheddars in our bag to pad it out with. Unfortunately despite the addition of the mini cheddars my husband and I both left feeling like we hadn’t eaten. No table check either so couldn’t ask for more bread. We could have gone to the bar to complain but the cheese would have gone cold and we were both assuming someone would come and ask how it was! The 6X wasn’t great. The hot chocolate was fine. I imagine we will leave it another couple of years before going back.
Great location but tired generally. Hygiene and a caring touch would boost my review up to 5. Friendly staff. Food average. Ladies toilets crying out for tlc. Cobwebs everywhere, muddy worktops, loo paper on floor. Does anybody ever check? Doesn’t feel like it. Come on guys step up I want to return. Currently wouldn’t return.
My family and I visited The Red Shoot for lunch. The service was friendly and the atmosphere cozy. However, we were disappointed with the food. It took 40 minutes for our meals to arrive, even though the restaurant wasn't busy. When the food did arrive, it was not worth the price. The fish pies we ordered were mostly potato with very little fish, and they were lukewarm and dry. The 'winter greens' were just boiled Kale with no seasoning. The chips were cold and the coleslaw was mostly mayonnaise. The only dishes that were enjoyable were the fish and chips and tagliatelle. For the price we paid, we expected higher quality food. It's a shame because we liked the location, staff, and ambiance of the restaurant.
I had an amazing experience at this restaurant! The service was outstanding, and the food was exceptional! It's a great place for families, with very friendly staff who even provide coloring activities for kids. The price per person is around £20–30, which is quite reasonable for the quality. I would rate the food, service, and atmosphere all at a perfect 5. I highly recommend trying the chips and fish. Plus, there's plenty of parking available, with a free parking lot nearby.
Good quality food, good selection of beer/ lager very friendly service from bar staff. Great place to take a walk from which we did. Vegetarian options: Our friends were vegetarian the food they had was fine though the selection was limited Price per person: £20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4 Recommended dishes: Pie of the Day, Veggie Burger
