The restaurant recently reopened under new management, and I had a delightful experience. The decor is lovely, and our waitress was very friendly. While the menu isn't as extensive as some other Thai restaurants, the dish I ordered was quite good. I definitely plan to return in the future.
I ordered the Thom Yum with chicken and noodles at spice level 1, and it was an amazing burst of flavor—truly delicious! However, when I tried the Pad Thai with chicken at the same spice level, I was let down. It had a dull, floury taste and a paste-like texture, lacking in spice, vegetables, and any vibrant colors.
When I sampled the curry, I found it to be spicy, but not excessively so, unlike some other restaurants that can go overboard with the heat. The coconut curry had a pleasantly sweet aftertaste that balanced the spice nicely. My only criticism is that the curry's consistency was somewhat watery, which didn’t match well with the rice it was accompanied by. It felt more like a curry soup or ramen to me.
Tan Thai is one of my favorite restaurants in Southern Indiana. The food is fresh and flavorful, and the service is consistently quick. The owners take great pride in every dish they prepare, and the menu offers many healthy options. My top picks are the ginger chicken with green beans and the red coconut curry with chicken.
