Alpes et Lac - Neuchâtel

The staff don't seem overly attentive, but there was a function going on. Menu prices were high enough I nearly said thanks and excused myself.

This nicely renovated hotel has a lovely restaurant spacious, wooden floor, with a lovely view to the nearby Lac de Neuchatel. The menus were unfortunately only in French but the waiter gave us an idea of the words we didn't know. Reasonable choice of...starters, mains and desserts, with local produce (fish and meats) represented. For the main course the boar (le sanglier) was delicious extremely tender and in a delicious plum sauce and accompanied by spiced plums and polenta. Steak tartare was also great. So based on those two items I'd imagine the rest of the items on the menu were similarly good. Service was prompt. Wine list was reasonable but not extensive. The kitchens close at 9.30pm beware! The price was OK for Switzerland i.e. more expensive than UK, but it was worth paying for!

For me it is the ideal neuchâtel restaurant for a business lunch. It is 2 steps from the train station and its terrace is sumptuous (magnificent view of the city, the lake and the alps. but where did they get the name of the establishment?!) when it looks beautiful. It's for the frame! side plates it's always good and well presented, the service is very correct as the prices. Go on without fear.

Beautiful terrace in summer with stunning views of the neuchâtel lake. ideal location in front of the station. Small flat: confusion on the terrace between tables of the Chinese restaurant next to and the alpes restaurant and lake!. = Increased separation would be required.

Discovered on the occasion of a working lunch, this restaurant offers quality cuisine in a very beautiful setting. the view from the terrace is beautiful.
