This restaurant offers an incredibly authentic taste of Jamaica; their jerk chicken is absolutely on point. They must have sweet red wood shipped in for their cooking. If you close your eyes while enjoying the jerk chicken, you can almost hear the Caribbean Sea. I'm so glad I discovered this hidden gem. It makes me want to book another trip to Jamaica! What Ferolyn Powell doesn't like about Ja Spice Island Jerk American Food:
The food was really disappointing—it tasted as though it had been sitting around and wasn’t freshly prepared. There was no flavor at all, whether it was the rice, meat, or cabbage! View all feedback.
Ja Spice has the best Jamaican food in NJ Hands down! I never order less than 6 chicken patties because they are sooooo good. The Oxtail, curry chicken, jerk pork, etc. PERFECTION!!!!!
Abundance of food for the goat curry. Stoked to have found out about this place, will be hitting after 24hr gym seshes for sureeee
Just moved around here and Ordered jerk chicken they gave me cut up white meat with jerk sauce on it!! Seriously a disgrace to Jamaican cuisine. The worst Jamaican food I ever tasted. Yall cooking for yt people that dunno what good food taste like.
Ordered Curry Chicken and Jerk, Mac Cheese 2 Beef Patties and 2 of the Jamaican Pineapple Sodas... the bananas mixed in and cabbage was the best. Please go to or order from this place right now... food was hot well prepared and tasted great!
I was really looking forward to trying this fantastic Jamaican restaurant in Netcong, NJ. I ordered a pasta dish with shrimp and jerk chicken for $27, and I couldn't wait to savor the flavors. However, when my plate arrived, I found it to be dry, and the chicken was just cut-up chicken breast. I felt let down because I was hoping for the rich flavor of the bone and a more pronounced jerk seasoning. Being from Brooklyn and having Jamaican parents, I have a good understanding of authentic Jamaican cuisine, and unfortunately, this didn't measure up.
