This restaurant is part of a day centre for retired people. It is only open at lunchtime. They serve a great value Menu del Dia for only 6 Euros. There is a great choice of Spanish style starters, mains and deserts. Drinks are extra. I always try and have lunch here when I visit Nerja. Excellent value and service. View all feedback.

We have passed this place many times and always said we should go in... and today we did. As said previously it's a fairly large dining area in a community centre, which was busy when we visited. Great choice of food, we had gazpacho and house salad to start, flamenquin and pork chop for main, served with chips and creme brulee for pudding, bread was brought as well. To drink we both had 2 glasses of wine, all served by a cheery young girl. Bill €16. Great value, we're going back!!!
This cafeteria/bar is located inside a community centre in a street just off The Balcon in the centre of Nerja. It is easy to walk past and in the mornings you see local elderly men sitting playing dominos. Calabaza does a menu del dia for €6 a head and is frequented by locals! You get a starter, main course, bread and dessert for this price and drinks are extra. They have a bar and you can have soft drinks, beer or wine with your meal. We came across this place quite by chance a couple of years ago and keep going back. The place is basic with no frills but spotless with great food and good sized portions. The food is good home cooking with an incredible selection written both in Spanish and English. Don't expect a menu here everything is written on a chalk board but you could eat here every day for a week and not have the same dish twice. If you want to do Nerja on a budget this is the place to eat.
We had lunch here twice during our stay it is only open for lunch. It is set out as an old fashioned Spanish café with the menu on two blackboards one in English, the other in Spanish. The menu del dia is 6 euros for 3 courses good value with a generous starter, reasonable main course and a small desert. It is situated behind the Popular bank.
