Reception couldn’t be more helpful, the restaurant was fully booked but I wasn’t surprised as I have dined here before and had an excellent meal, the location is so close to the city I had no problem. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, a few on bbq, couples on their decks and small gatherings it felt like it was humming. Plenty of parking and lots of space. The menu catered to every taste. The presentation of the food was definitely worthy of Instagram. The front-of-house employees were quick on their feet, ensuring that diners were well taken care of and that the tables were cleaned promptly.

During our recent visit, we were thoroughly impressed by the exceptional service, cleanliness, and the quality of the food. We enjoyed a lovely bottle of wine from a thoughtfully curated menu. Every aspect of our evening was meticulously handled by a well-organized team. We can’t wait to come back and wholeheartedly recommend Flames on 40 to anyone visiting.

The c... read more This was my first experience with this restaurant. I chose this establishment as the venue for a reunion with my cousins, then breakfast the next morning. The choice was made due to the fact we were staying at the Hotel Nelson. This has been by far the best choice without hesitation or doubt in our minds. From the confirmation of booking alongside the greeting apon our entrance to the end of our farewells, this has purely been an extremely professional and memorable experience. The food was of Masterchef quality, presented beautifully and the customer service from Marcia was above and beyond our expectations and was not only attentive in every way imaginable but professionally done with an amazing attitude and smile, thank you for making our experience so enjoyable. We will be returning in the not so distant future. We fully recommend the staff of this establishment for your 5 efforts. Once again, thank you

The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Dinner was fantastic—it's hard to find anything to criticize, and I was very pleased with the food. The dessert was just as delicious, making it a perfect way to end the evening before we made our way back to our rooms after a couple of nightcaps at the bar. I also enjoyed breakfast there, opting for the cooked Continental breakfast, which did not disappoint and was another excellent meal. I would happily return in the future.

I or... read more After my flights out of Nelson were canceled on September 16th, I decided to extend my stay and returned for dinner. It was almost worth the inconvenience! I ordered the chicken wings, which might be the best I've ever had. For my main course, I had the pork belly. The crackling was crispy—maybe not perfect, but still crispy—and the meat was absolutely phenomenal—full of flavor, tender, and practically falling apart. I could have eaten it with a spoon! I have to say, I was very satisfied after enjoying the entrée, main course, and a few beers. The overall meal was fantastic. As for the service, it was hard to fault; the waitress was friendly, cheerful, and had a great sense of humor, easily taking a joke. My colleague, by the way, was equally pleased with his meal. If I ever find myself back in Nelson from Australia, I will definitely return to this restaurant. I sincerely hope they continue to maintain this level of excellence, and I highly recommend that both locals and visitors give this place a try. Thumbs up! An impressed Aussie!
