I have told EVERYONE about this place I drive by almost every day and finally decided to try it. Hands down my new favorite restaurant. The menu is a bit small, which I like because it's not overwhelming to pick a meal! Verbose enough to crave every flavor profile you're in the mood for. I LOVED that the bread came with a bowl of fresh pesto, and per my friend with a nut allergy, they do not add pine nuts to the pesto so it is safe to consume for any nut allergy people out there! Tatiana provided beyond excellent service. Topping our waters off and coming back frequently with more bread (we ate a lot... The price was perfect for the portion sizes, and the calamari was to die for.
One of the the best Italian restaurants in the area. (Traducido por Google) Uno de los mejores restaurantes italianos de la zona.
This is not a restaurant review. Instead, this is a story about two beautiful human beings entering into their favorite restaurant and feeling completely taken care of, in a gastronomical sense. In a way, this is a Love story. It 's a Friday evening. The love of my life and I are hungry, and decide to head towards our favorite area to dine. I speak of downtown Needham, MA. It is rife with great establishments geared to satisfy any type of food hunger. We head straight towards one of our favorite restaurants, Sweet Basil. We get near the restaurant and by some miracle, the parking space right out front is available! The universe is clearly smiling upon us tonight. Now, under normal circumstances, there is almost always a wait to get a table here, but this night was pleasantly different. Because of the 4th of July holiday weekend, it seemed most locals were off and away to the more majestic parts of New England. This means that upon entering the restaurant, we are greeted by the host and he offers us a choice of table! Truly amazing, 3 actual tables to pick from on a Friday night! We choose the cozy little table for two near the wall, so we can gaze into each other 's eyes and profess our love without much distraction. Once we are seated and settled in, we are greeted by Daphne; the kindest, most patient, proficient and rockstar server I 've ever had at any restaurant in near memory. Her style and energy is profoundly lovely and attentive, and I can clearly sense her pride for the restaurant and its selection of sublime edible masterpieces. She suggests the bread and pesto starter (which I believe was only $5 to which my girlfriend and I gleefully accept. How could one pass up the most magical combination of fresh pesto and bread? As we wait for the pesto, we select our main courses and then chat about life while holding hands, truly in awe of our good fortune on this lovely evening. When Daphne comes back with the pesto and bread, she informs us of the specials that evening and I decide on selecting the salmon special. As we place our order I mention to her that I have a dairy allergy, and if the chef could prepare the dish accordingly that would be much appreciated. Upon hearing this she mentions that they actually have their fresh pesto available without the usual cheese they mix in! I am just in awe! This means I too can enjoy the glorious pesto along with the fresh Iggys bread. I thank her profusely and within 3 minutes my girlfriend and I are in pesto heaven. We laugh, we talk, we try to restrain ourselves from eating all the pesto and bread in front of us, and before we know it our mains come out. The braised chicken my GF ordered was enormous and smells irresistible. You could easily feed 3 people from her dish alone! I exclaim what a value! as I normally do when we get large portions at restaurants. Then I turn my attention to my salmon. Again, a rather large portion, and it smells looks so tasty! I don 't even bother taking pictures because the lighting in the restaurant is fairly dim and it wouldn 't have done it justice anyways. There is a mashed potato base, with smokey bits of bacon embedded, some apple slices I believe, and a couple other vegetables interspersed under the salmon. I am so thoroughly satisfied, words can barely suffice. All I had to do was give my GF the look and she knows the chef has hit a home run. Also worth noting, The bill was about $60, extremely reasonable for a wonderful meal out. Every part of our experience, from Daphne 's graceful service, to the chef 's keen attention to detail, is spot on and we leave the restaurant feeling very well taken care of, and with plenty of leftovers (including the pesto! It 's safe to say I Love Sweet Basil and look forward to dining there again and again in the very near future!
The food was good, but not exceptional. However, the portion sizes were quite generous. Just a reminder to bring your own alcohol since they don't serve any on-site.
This is some of the best Italian food I've enjoyed in a long time. You should hurry over!
Sweet Basil is a must-visit for anyone seeking an exceptional dining experience. With a charming ambiance and reasonable prices, this restaurant impresses with its friendly and professional staff. Diners rave about the fresh and delicious dishes, from the ribeye steak to the four cheese ravioli, along with standout options like Shrimp Scampi and Pancetta Risotto. Although they don't take reservations, the wait is worthwhile, especially with the option to bring your own wine. The delightful service and authentic flavors make Sweet Basil a beloved choice for both casual meals and special occasions. Highly recommended!.

My boyfriend and I LOVE sweet basil. We get a LOT of takeout (the bolognese is easily the best item on the menu, puts all other bolognese to shame, and is totally big enough to feed the both of us) and it’s our go-to dine-in place for fancy date nights! Everyone is so kind and sweet, it’s not too loud, they’re good with allergies (the complimentary pesto and bread that comes when you sit down is nut-free and beyond delicious), and the food is amazing. 10/10. Dietary restrictions: I’m allergic to fish, sesame, and nuts. The pesto is nut free, the breading doesn’t have sesame, I can eat the complimentary bread at the start I’ve never had to edit any dishes to conform to my allergies.
This place gets busy! You can bring your own wine and they will uncork it for you. The pesto that they make there is amazing. The rosemary chicken was a hit at our table. I had the vegetarian lasagna which was a bit undercooked. Overall though we had a good experience! Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
Good Italian option in the area. Some dishes can be drenched in excessive sauce. Can get quite noisy. Food: 4 Atmosphere: 4 Parking options: Paid street parking

Had dinner here last night. The pasta with my scampi was not cooked. My husband’s Rosemary Chicken was too salty. But the worst was after waiting an hour to be seated we were rushed out by staff saying “they had to clear the table”. We will not go back. The ambiance is wonderful, and the prices are quite reasonable. The staff is not only friendly but also professional. The food was outstanding. I had the ribeye steak served with quinoa, roasted cauliflower, and tomato. I highly recommend this restaurant.
I've been to Sweet Basil several times, and each time I've been thoroughly impressed with the service. The food is incredibly fresh and delicious! My two favorite dishes are the Shrimp Scampi and Shrimp Risotto. The option to bring our own wine is fantastic! They don't take reservations, so you might have to wait a little, but it's definitely worth it. I highly recommend this place!
I recently visited Sweet Basil for the first time and had the four cheese ravioli, which were absolutely delightful. The sauce was truly authentic Italian! Our server was friendly and accommodating. Although they don’t have a children’s menu, they were more than willing to prepare a bowl of spaghetti for our granddaughter when we asked. We didn't have to wait despite being a party of eight on a Thursday night at 7 PM. Most entrees were priced in the $20 to $40 range, and I believe my ravioli was $22. I highly recommend Sweet Basil!
Rosemary Chicken is to die like the Bolognese, and the Pancetta Risotto. It is so hard not to fill up on her usual pesto and rustic bread, because it is so dared. Also love their shells and I'm not even a seafood fan, but it's just garlic treat. I wish they had reservations, but they took my birthday group of 11 in Stride and the waiting was not too bad. Your family menu for parties of 8 or more is a lot. Attention, love the atmosphere, they play good 80's music, what is not to like?
We ate there last night and everything was wonderful! The service was great the food was delicious and we would highly recommend this place to anyone else. We had the rosemary chicken and Bolognese dishes excellent

I visited this restaurant and discovered that it's BYOB, and they don’t have a dessert menu. They don’t accept reservations, but I could already sense that the food was going to be excellent. I...
Huge portion for the rosemary chicken. Tasty and filling but not the best I've ever had a little too creamy and heavy. Service was friendly and fast. No liquor license so BYOB. Great location with indoor and outdoor seating.
First time getting food from this place. I got the bolognese for takeout, and it was good.
The food is absolutely fantastic. It’s a bit on the pricey side, but definitely worth it. The menu is full of creative options, and you won’t leave feeling disappointed.

The food is exceptional, especially the mussels! I’ve never had a bad meal here. While the wait can be long and the noise level high, it's still a fantastic place to dine.
