We reached out repeatedly with calls, emails, and on social media. Despite all of this, we were never able to get in touch with anyone or actually check in. I wish I could leave 0 stars. Stay far away! I can't comment on the stay as we were never able to actually check in. I wasn't able to get in touch with anyone about our scheduled stay despite our 100% pre-payment. We had to find another hotel and were never did get any response from the Van Dyke despite our repeated calls, emails, and our reaching out to them on their social media channels. A real shame. Hopefully this review saves someone the trouble that we went through.

Unfortunately, I can 't actually review our stay as we were unable to ever check in. We pre-paid for a stay in January of '23, but we were never able to actually get in touch with anyone to confirm it or to check-in. After numerous calls, emails, and reaching out on social media, we gave up and booked another hotel. I 'm leaving this review so that it hopefully saves someone else the trouble that we went through. Horrible customer service before we could even get in the door. Stay far, far away.
Our stay was not good at all. Had a bad experience down to staff attitudes and service. Most staff are 18 at best and completely inexperienced. Couldn’t get any room service for food (a basic requirement for a supposedly 4 Star Hotel . I was also basically told “tough” that our room hadn’t been serviced by 3pm down to the fact that only 1 housekeeper was working as “it was Christmas Day” ! In that case if you cannot provide the service, do not open on Christmas Day then ! When I complained, I was then followed outside by a “Gang” of male staff as I suggested I was heading out for a cigarette. We then had a standoff outside the hotel entrance as I was told I couldn’t smoke there (in the open air at the top of the main steps and this was done in a threatening, aggressive manner. After the Christmas meal (average at best for the £230 charged ! , I was then followed into the bar area by another member of staff and asked to sign my Christmas Meal Drinks Bill AGAIN, which I had JUST already signed for ! Then we were advised for the 2nd day in a row that Food Room Service was not available (as reiterated earlier, a basic requirement for a 4 Star Hotel I did try and explain about my complaints during my stay but to no avail, all I got was a mob handed response each time, by a load of all I can describe as Children who work for you in supposed Managerial Roles. So there go, our Christmas short stay Ruined ……………. And a £1150 bill for the privilege ……………. We did come over to Van Dykes regularly for Sunday Roasts and Meals but this will not be happening again after our Festive Experience. and Don't employ Children to Run a Supposed 4 Star Hotel
DO NO BOOK THIS HOTELWe were jipped out of staying here. I booked this in June and then found out the hotel got purchased and is under new ownership. Didn’t really think it would be a concern or issue. As I got closer to going there for our stay, I didn’t receive and communication from the hotel confirming our stay which was concerning. I started calling and emailing the hotel leading into our stay and got zero calls back and zero email returns. We showed up to the property to begin our stay and no one was onsite so I called “Cristina” who “personally” emailed about the change in management and got no returned calls (even with leaving voicemails). We then had to book a new hotel for our stay.I finally was able to get ahold of someone via Airbnb (seems the hotel is no run through that) to which they apologized and said they would issue a refund within 5-10 days. It’s now been two weeks and I still haven’t gotten a refund despite them saying they issued it. I have now had to report this as fraud through my credit card company.DO NO BOOK THIS HOTEL
