Smiling elephant is always a solid pick for me, especially during lunch! Their mango sticky rice is to die for, as well as their signature mung bean noodles. Overall, if you want a solid meal with great attentive service, give smiling elephant a try : View all feedback.
What fishinpeach doesn't like about The Smiling Elephant:
Food is excellent but extremely overpriced. Go to Bangkokville where your Thai lunch will be just as delicious, more reasonably priced and comes with soup and fried spring roll. View all feedback.
Wow! I’m hard to please and have a finer plate for more authentic Asian cuisine. This was the first restaurant we visited on our trip in Tennessee and I’m so glad we did. Everything was delicious starting from the Thai Tea with Milk to the Larb App which was so refreshing(leave the chilis out if you don’t like spice) to the chicken satay and fried rice which were so so delicious. After full bellies we were leaving and ran into the owner on the way out who had personally explained the menu to us when we got there. He told my 3 year old he’d be right back and suprised her with a beautiful Thai fan which absolutely made her night. We’ll be back and so will our friends!
Great flavors! Wonderful, friendly service! So much better than the average Thai restaurant.
This was my third time here. Today I drank out of my water, only to see there was a bug the same width of an icecube sandwiched between the cubes. No one said anything to me, they just snatched the glass out of my hand. It would have been fine if a single person apologized but our table was ignored the rest of the time we were there, until the check came and we were made to pay even before we were done eating. The food had minimal flavor. Not a good experience.
I ordered the green bean noodles pad thai, rather than the rice noodles. This was on recommendation of the staff. The meal was fantastic. As good as any Thai restaurant I have been to. Spicy for some: Be sure to order the level you like. I had 3; range is 0 to 5. The chicken is tenderloins and the taste/texture reflects that. Portion was LARGE! One can tell this is authentic from the food, and the owners/staff. This is a fsmily-run establishment. Dainty place with decor that makes one feel they are in Thailand.
It was good, just very busy, cramped seating and parking is tight, especially if you drive a full size truck. Just from all I read and saw online, my expectations were higher. It's a decent place, the food was good, and the service was good. Not too pricey...
