Dao Asian Bistro - Nashville

The portions are generous! For those who are gluten-free, here are my thoughts. I tried some sushi tonight, specifically the Super Crunch Roll, which was fantastic! It had almost double the diameter of a typical roll, was deep-fried, and came with only five pieces. The flavor was excellent! I also ordered the Dragon Black Roll, which was a regular size but packed with flavor. I give a solid 5 stars for the sushi itself. However, I did have some concerns. They served the rolls in the same containers you’d find at the Kroger next door, which seemed less appealing compared to the usual polystyrene containers I’m used to. Additionally, I received just a tiny bit of wasabi and ginger with my order. I'm not a fan of wasabi, so the amount was fine for me, but I don't like ginger at all, so that wasn’t an issue. Usually, I expect these accompaniments to be provided in individual containers, but that wasn’t the case here. As for the restaurant's interior, I wasn't a huge fan; it felt more like a food court in a mall, which is why I ultimately chose to get sushi from here. The food is good, but everything else is just average. Regarding gluten-free options: some items are claimed to be gluten-free, but my wife needs to be cautious. She has a small device that can test gluten levels, and we've decided it's better not to risk getting food here.

This is my favorite restaurant. They offer gluten-free options and generous portions. My top choice is the Walnut Shrimp with the sauce served on the side. Today, I was craving sweet and sour shrimp, but it wasn’t on the menu, so I inquired about the Walnut Shrimp with sweet and sour sauce on the side instead. It was absolutely delicious! I also adore their sesame balls (gin doi). I usually don’t enjoy red bean paste, but theirs is sweeter, and I just love it. Plus, everything is always gluten-free. I can’t wait to come back next time I’m in town!

One suggestion for improvement would be to serve the soup while customers are waiting for their main courses, as it would help keep it hot. The restaurant's decor seems to have remained unchanged over the 20 years I've lived here. The seating is worn and in need of repair, and the lighting is quite dim. I would love to try their sushi and sashimi to see if they’re as good as the other dishes I’ve enjoyed. Great job, Dao Asian Bistro!

I love it! Beautiful service, food was perfect, the waitress was helpful and knowledgeable. Wonderful meal, great value!

Best Asian food I've had in a long time. Great service, ambience, food presentation and prices. Definitely worth trying.
