Contribute Feedback What Jennifer Maszczak likes about Dixie Blues Restaurant And Bar:
For his birthday, my teenage son wanted a burger with an egg on it. My husband knew the former restaurant there did, so he checked out the menu and, well, now I'm writing this review. Food was delish. We got some sort of smothered fries with gravy and cheese like poutine. Amazing. I got the short rib grilled cheese and mac cheese. Sandwich was to die for. Mac cheese was bland. Boys both got big custom burgers which w... View all feedback.
Was there the night Erin harpe was playing. Acoustics for good. Had the chicken and gravy. It was quite tasty, well-prepared and presented. One pleasant surprise was the onion rings. Light coating, sweet fried rings. Rest of the menu looked like classic BBQ. Mostly pork. The burger option was a build your own. Start with basic burger and then pick toppings from a list. it's a good-looking list of toppings. Not for the indecisive. I'm going to pay attention to this place because if they have other good blues musicians, it's a good place to go.
Service was great. Lots of sports options on the TVs, which is much appreciated. Food took a little time to arrive, but it was good when it did, and I had a well-made cocktail to balance it out. Higher than my expectations for southern food in New England. Fried crawfish, Mac and cheese, and collards were more than decent. Drinks were good; I had the Dr. John. I was sad they ran out of cornbread, but it was well after 8:30pm on a weekend, and that is a sign it might be pretty good. Will definitely go back to try other items on their menu and hopefully get a chance to try some dessert.
Wonderful service and the food was top notch. Nice atmosphere. Loved the pork belly lollipops!
I went on a Friday night after one of the usual car shows with a group of 8 including myself. We showed up with no reservation, and let me tell you, southern hospitality is the name of the game there. We were all made to feel welcome, and had pretty in depth conversation with who I presume to be the owner; he's a car guy as well. The atmosphere fits the restaurant, feeling modern, but also just the right amount of old fashioned. And now, the food. My dish was incredible, and I heard no bad from my friends. Personally, I had the country fried chicken under gravy. I was pleased to see that it wasn't smothered and soggy, which I've had poor experiences with at other restaurants. The gravy was great, not super overpowering, just a nice garnish. The chicken was great. As mentioned, the outside stayed nice and crispy, but the inside was juicy and flavorful. The waffle fries were awesome; they had great flavor and the perfect amount of salt for me. I left full, with another whole piece of chicken remaining. And all of that came to less than $20.
Saw Erin harpe there. Acoustics were good. Not too noisy. Had the fried chicken and gravy dish. Not too greasy. Onion rings also very flavorful and not too greasy. I'm going to pay attention to the upcoming events because I want to go back. I think the only downside about the barbecue selection is that it's all pork. service was good. It may have been slow but I didn't care because I was enjoying the show. Wait staff was attentive and kept my drink. Thankfully it wasn't alcohol otherwise I would have had a very hard time driving home.
