Courte Paille - Narbonne

Had a great lunch at this restaurant. We had the meat platter to start and I had the local sausage which was very different! It was a rolled sausage and the meat was not ground but in long strings and covered by a thin layer of meat. A very distinct texture and flavour.

Didn't know courtepaille restaurant. We tried. Great welcome and service. Really the asset. Food served fast. Grilled but you taste the chemicals. No patatoes had to switch to fries ! I did not like the food. And found that 42 eur for two people, one dish, one glass of red wine horrible) and bottle of Vittel was really overpriced.

Stopped here for a quick lunch on return from holidays. Firstly the aircon was rather too cold, especially when wearing shorts, and it wasn't that hot on the day we stopped. OH had onglet and chips which was cooked as requested and fine. I chose a large salmon salad, which came in a dish (I hate salads served as a main meal in dishes rather than on plates), and the lettuce was rather stalky and scrappy, and not well washed, and though there was plenty of it, it was smothered in mayonnaise or salad cream I couldn't tell which. There was one large piece of smoked salmon and one half a cold boiled egg, along with various vegetables, sliced in an interesting way, but these vegetables were smothered in vinaigrette. On top of this was a large portion of tomatoes, quartered, stalks still in, not particularly tasty, and all in all, rather overwhelming. And it would have been better not drowned in two types of sauce, and so large! It became very busy just after we were served, and though the staff coped we decided against desserts and asked for the bill. When this did not arrive, we walked to the cash till and paid without waiting for the actual bill to arrive. This is not the first time I have eaten at this Courtepaille, or the other in Narbonne, but this was a particularly memorable occasion, for all the wrong reasons!

We were tired of driving directly from Paris and went here to have a quick dinner. But I found the food very good, specially for a chain restaurant. The menu was varied and they have a kids menu, which is so helpful when you have a pick eater child and is in France. We all appreciated our dishes and desserts.
