A quick lunch time visit ended up with a sumptuous visit which resulted in having to change plans later. Why? The food and portions were amazing. So much to choose from, so much to eat. Lots of room, indoors and out and right in the centre of the shopping district near the metro. Great place. View all feedback.
What Dan M doesn't like about Trattoria Vanvitelli:
We live in Naples and have enjoyed some of the best. This place looked promising, but it was fair at best. First impression is that it's huge, which should be a red flag. We ordered but nothing came for a while except a basket of not-fresh bread. Waiting, I had to call the waiter to ask for our acqua. My wife's raw tuna antipasto was bland and slightly discolored. Our family had our first meal in Napoli here and we were not disappointed! The menu has a great variety of pizzas, dishes, and desserts. We all had pizzas and they were fantastic, as well as the desserts especially the tiramisú. Lastly, the service was top notch and definitely above average in Italy
We were in the Vomero area of Naples and slightly lost and checking a map on how to get from the Castle Sani Elmo to P.izza Vanvitelli when a local actually a scottish guy who worked locally for over 16 years helped us) He recommended this restaurant which is located on the P.zza Vanvitelli although it was at the time of our visit covered in scaffold at the frontage. Down the stairs lead to a basement restaurant with a large garden with open and covered areas full of tables. obviously popular with the locals as very busy, nevertheless a great table was found. Large menu of seafoods pastas ,pizzas etc and at lunch time a fixed price menu. As i am Coeliac Italian food can be hit or miss but this restaurant had gluten free pizzas as an option and a proper wood fired oven. Food was excellent so much so that another lunch time we made a repeat visit to Vomero just to dine at this restaurant. This area is much more residential middle class area with a pedestrianised shopping street close by.

Ottime le pizze ma soprattutto gentilissimo il cameriere della terrazza esterna che si è fatto perdonare il fatto che le seconda pizza fritta è stata servita quando la prima era ormai stata consumata. Strano che non siano riusciti a servire pizze in contemporanea.
